Thank you for your support, so we are able to keep providing and improving our NikGapps packages for free to everyone who needs it.

We realized that we can't answer all the questions in support group because our team has been busy with personal stuff lately and it's leading into dissatisfaction from users that are facing some problems but we're trying to keep notes for bugs and stuff and we thank you for your reports.

Due to overwhelming reports between number of users that need support and number of admins active, we don't have too much time like we used to have in the past. Thus, we need your help.

We recently purged inactive admins, we appreciated your contribution and feel free to reapply if you have time again.

If some of you are interested in helping other users and have knowledge to guide them patiently and just be polite to them, please let us know by sending pm to @NikhilMenghani or @DrAmoled.

We're back with a few announcements :)

1. Canary Release (4th April 2021) (R/Q)

While we had a lot of Canary Releases recently, we're up with one last before we could go to Stable Release!
- This one comes with addon v3 support (since LOS officially moved addon.d to v3)
- We added support for 4 more google apps - GoogleDuo, GoogleSheets, GoogleDocs, GoogleSlides. (we will update the website shortly)

2. Going Open-Source

We wanted to make sure we have everything setup before we went open-source, now that we do, developers can contribute towards NikGapps and help the community with more and more updates.
- This also enables us to keep track of the open isues so we can bring them to closure. Please make sure you create an issue with proper logs in the issue tab of NikGapps-build repo if you're experiencing any issue with NikGapps, bugs reported on github repository will be our priority.
- This also takes us to the next level and offer more than just predefined gapps and addons. (Look for 3rd announcement).

3. Ability to build your custom NikGapps package [Beta]

- Yes, now you can build a NikGapps package with exactly the apps you wish be part of the package.
- No, you don't need a server to build it
- No, you don't need to learn coding to build it
- Yes, It is very simple, you only need your edited nikgapps.config file which you're using to customize your installation. Follow the steps on NikGapps-config repo and you'll be good to go!
- Yes, we worked really hard to achieve this for you!

Latest canary release (15th April) is pushed to sourceforce with many addon.d changes

- Addon.d v3 support
- Made addon.d versioning configurable (Read How to control addon.d execution with NikGapps)
- Completely uninstall nikgapps, just by setting execute.d=0 and dirty flashing your rom
- Clean up nikgapps noscripts with execute.d=0 (this will now not only prevent the execution of nikgapps addon.d noscripts but also remove any residue left in the system)
- Fix several addon.d specific issues from last few canary releases
- update nikgapps.config to v13

- feel free to dirty flash over last canary release

Latest canary release has been pushed with playstore updates (for android R, Q will follow up soon) and major noscript changes around mounting the partitions.

Hoping to get some feedback on latest canary, please post your feedback on how it works out for you along with installation logs.

Hi All,

Today's canary release (16th May) comes with a lot of base changes

Changelog:

- Update how Busybox is installed
- Add support for system_ext partition (hopefully helps with storage full issue)
- Rebase the installer noscript (optimized to a great extent)
- Dynamically choose which partition to install gapps to (the installer will pick the partition which is writable)
- Prevent GBoard and GoogleClock addons from flashing before first boot (this needs to be flashed before first boot)
- detailed changelog here

Need feedback on this release! Kindly share installation logs after you flash it.

Note:
- It is really difficult to keep track of existing issues, kindly open a issue on Github with proper details and logs.
- You don't need to dirty flash Gapps build. However, if you wish to flash it, you can.
- Devices with dynamic partitions, if you're getting storage space error, flash rom, reboot to recovery, wipe /data, flash NikGapps

New Stable Release is up! (Q/R) (7th June 2021)

Changelog:
- Fix bootloop with OTA update due to magisk addon.d conflicts
- Skip building Core, CoreGo, Pixelize addons as those don't make sense and do not benefit being addons

Note:
- if your ota update is broken due to this conflict, I recommend you to update to this build. If you can clean flash, great, if you can't clean flash, delete /system/addon.d folder and dirty flash latest NikGapps and magisk

- Fix unzip command failing to recognize '-p' arg and eventually failing the installation on some devices (thanks to @glx33807 and @OneWayGamer)
- Allow dirty flashing Gboard/Clock upon dirty flashing Rom
- Script Optimization (comparatively faster installation)!
- Rename NikGapps log name to reflect device and file name
- Abort the installation when system available size is 0
- Build Debloater (which you can use to debloat apps from system) along with Gapps to keep noscript fixes in sync (you will find the updated debloater in Debloater folder on Sourceforge.net)

- Dirty flash over 27th or newer build will be fine, Clean flash recommended if you're on older build.
- Update only if you are facing issues with previous builds
- GBoard and Google clock can be dirty flashed only if you clean flashed it once. This will let you reflash GBoard in case there is a rom update.
- NikGapps logs name will be different now, Generated Logs name will reflect the file name and device to help keep track of the issues

Hi Everyone,

A big announcement! 🙂

Recently we announced the ability to create your own customized NikGapps builds

Well, now we've moved on to the next level to speed things up for you, reducing the turnaround time of merging your pull requests.

Now, you can get your customized builds in less than 30 mins of sending a pull request!

We've worked on setting up an ecosystem where your pull request will be validated against the standards in less than 30 mins of your pull request, building the custom builds right away. The config files which are invalid/unacceptable as per the standards, will be handled manually for obvious reasons.

In the best case scenario, you will get your builds in 10-15 mins of raising a pull request! 🙂

This was a manual process until now where we used to validate and merge the pull request and wait for nightly cycle to build custom gapps. No more!

So what are you waiting for? Head over to config repository and start building your own gapps.

Independence Day Release is up! (Q/R) (15th August 2021)

Changelog:
- Ability to flash Addons on top of other gapps and Roms with prebuilt gapps without NikGapps dependency (way to being Independent. eh?)
- Fix modified nikgapps.config being overridden by stock nikgapps.config in some cases
- Ability to modify nikgapps.config from the zip file to customize the installation (for those who sideload zip)
- nikgapps.config version updated to 17 (recommend to use this to build custom gapps builds)
- Remove Eleven with installation of YouTube Music (both stock and vanced)

Note:
- Addons flashed on top of other gapps packages will not get any support for obvious reasons, sometimes the overlays conflict so choose wisely.
- Dirty flash over 27th June or newer build will be fine, Clean flash recommended if you're on older build.
- v17 introduces LogDirectory config which is the location where you can export the installation logs, this is for those who run on encrypted /data partition, now you can export it to any other location from where you can fetch the logs and share it. No need to change anything otherwise.
