Anyone know what this plastic/fabric is hanging out of the bottom of my Z6III?

D850 vs Z8 in post processing
I‘ve recently upgraded from a D850 to a Z8.
Everything seems great. I really like the new features of the Z sytem… lenses are completely quiet, faster… IBIS, subject detection, etc.
However: When i process the image files of the Z8 in lightroom, they seem much less dynamic? If I have a perfect image, good lightning, don‘t need to crop much… the files are as impressive as from the D850. The Z lenses seem a tad sharper as well.
So far so good.
Now if the image is not good lightning, or I want to push it harder in editing, crop in quite a bit, maybe a combination of both… the files from the Z8 seem to reach their limits a lot faster?
I went back to old files of my D850 to see if I‘m imagining things, but it seems those files can be pushed quite a bit more without running into noise and other issues.
Am I imagining things? Am I crazy for thinking I want to go back to my D850, despite all the nice features of the Z models… because the image quality of D850 files seems better in post processing?
I pretty much never used the denoise stuff in Lightroom. With the Z8, as soon as I start pushing the files, I feel the need to use the denoise function. I can‘t put my finger on it. The D850 seems to have not only slightly better dynamic range, it seems quite noticable to me.
Anybody else felt the same when coming from a D850 to the Z8 or Z9?
I don‘t really shoot fast moving stuff. Most of my photos are stationary things, landscapes, etc. It feels like the D850 will produce better results in this “discipline“…
