MicroG Setup Guide
MicroG is an open source alternative to Gapps, with which you are almost guaranteed to get:
-Better Bettery Life
-Privacy
-Better performance
over Gapps.
Google services that are supported by MicroG are detailed here:
https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/wiki/Implementation-Status
⬇️How to get MicroG:
-Get MicroG individual APKs and manually put them into system (and granting all permissions to all of them manually):
--Website:
https://microg.org/download.html
--FDroid repository:
https://microg.org/fdroid/repo
-Through any of the packs that install the whole microg package, this is the easiest way https://news.1rj.ru/str/NoGoolag/182
⚠️NOTE: You need Signature Spoofing for MicroG to work properly. Check #sigspoof
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/index-list-custom-roms-offering-t3557047
📖Steps to setup MicroG are:
1. Do a clean flash of the ROM. That is, wipe Data, Cache and System, and flash your ROM again. (Otherwise you may have permission problems and battery drain.)
2. Install MicroG through your preferred medium.
3. Reboot to system.
4. Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Accounts > Google and login to your account (NOT REQUIRED)
5. Open app 'MicroG Settings' > Self-Check. If "System grants signature spoofing permission" isn't ticked, click on it and grant permission.
6. In MicroG settings, Go to "Google device registration", "Google Cloud Messaging", and "Google SafetyNet" and enable each of them.
7. Reboot.
8. In MicroG settings, go to UnifiedNLP settings, and enable everything in "Configure location backends" and "Configure address lookup backends".
9. Reboot.
Congrats! MicroG set up! You are now Google services free.
For Google Sync:
-Check https://news.1rj.ru/str/NoGoolag/70
For accessing Play Store:
-Use Aurora which are open-source and directly access apps from play store
-Use a modded play store from any of the microg installers
https://news.1rj.ru/str/NoGoolag/1792
To use a Google app:
-If a google app is not seeing your account, wipe its data and give it all permissions (not very privacy friendly, but you were the one who wanted to make them work). Then hope for the best.
-Open the app and it [should] see your account.
Troubleshooting:

UnifiedNLP Backends
MicroG needs some backends to get network Location.
I should take these two paragraphs to clarify that Network location is NOT GPS. MicroG has nothing to do with your GPS. Network Location is that hugely approximated wide-circle that appears before you get a GPS Lock.
If you cannot get a location even on device only location mode, it's not MicroG. It's your app, your ROM, your device, or your cursed house. Change any of these.
So, there are various Location Backends available, whose pros and cons have been detailed in the UNLP readme, along with their FDroid download links if your installer did not include them.
Enable high accuracy location, enable the backends you want in microg unifiednlp section and click on the gears to configure them
Troubleshooting
-If location (NLP) is not working:
--download and install this: https://f-droid.org/app/com.vonglasow.michael.satstat
--Enable High Acccuracy Location and open SatStat. Wait for it to get your location.
--Don't close SatStat, minimize it and open MicroG Settings > Self-Check. All boxes shold be checked.

Sync Contacts & Calendar without Gapps
🔄 Offline Backup:
➖The fastest, easiest and most privacy-friendly way is to just backup your vcf and restore it on each wipe. Not much for convenience, but we wouldn't be here if that bothered us, would we? :)
--Go to contacts app
--For Backup, Options > Import/Export > 'Export to .vcf file'
--The .vcf file will be saved in the root of your storage. Keep it secure. Or I'll come for it.
--For Restore, Options > Import/Export > 'Import from .vcf file'
➖To retieve your contacts directly from your Google account in a vcf file:
--Go to https://contacts.google.com/ and login
--Use sidebar > Export > select 'Export as VCard' > Export
🔄 Google's sync adapters:
➖Google uses some proprietary APKs that sync your Contacts and Calendar, namely:
--com.google.android.backuptransport
--com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts
--com.google.android.syncadapters.calendar
➖You can get them from several sources:
--The latest OpenGapps 'Pico' package for your device
--Several installers like MinMicrog Standard or NanoDroid
➖These APKs are dependant on your android version, so make sure to get the correct ones
➖Just install, give them perms, and enable your account sync from system settings. They should start doing their job
🔄 With CardDAV:
➖You should be able to sync contacts using the open-source CardDAV client DAVdroid (available on F-Droid or Play)
➖First of all, go to https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps
With your account and enable the setting
➖When logging in with DAVDroid, Use "Login with URL and user name"
--Base URL:
https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/your_gmail_id@gmail.com/events
--User name:
your_gmail_id@gmail.com
--Password: Your Google account password
➖This will sync your contacts and calendar with the default settings. Explaining DAVDroid configurations might take another separate post, or a few.
➖The URL might change over time.
🔄 Other alternatives:
You could setup some locally hosted alternatives to sync your contacts like Nextcloud or Syncthing. In this case, good luck, and you can always get help in the group if you get stuck.

Fennec F-Droid
♦What's Fennec?
Fennec is a fork of Firefox for Android that strips away all the proprietary bits (including mozilla and google analytics) and makes it completely FOSS. It's kept up to date with vanilla Firefox, so it also has the new Quantum engine and Photon UI.
This is a great browser for anybody looking for a open-source, privacy friendly alternative to chrome as it even comes with its own webview.

NetOff
This is a simple noscript, that turns most network off on only the next boot after flashing it so that you can set your firewall, vpn, etc up before anything unauthorised can connect to the internet.
It works with magisk (simpler and more reliable) or in system mode (init.d must be present). Can be flashed from recovery or magisk manager.
Networks turned off are:
-WiFi
-Data
-GPS
-Bluetooth
-Hotspot
(Reccomendations for more are welcome)
This might turn off networks at various times depending on how quickly magisk/init.d execute on your device, so to workaround this, I have made them execute this multiple times. This also means you might not be able to turn the networks on for a minute or so after the device boots up.

MagicGapps (by VR25 @ xda)
This is a simple zip to install your regular OpenGapps package as a Magisk module. All instructions are in readme.md inside the zip.
This helps if you urgently, really, really need to flash Gapps as this is systemless. Quick install, quick bye-bye ( just uninstall the module.)
Basically, put your OpenGapps zip in the same directory as this zip and then flash from recovery.
NOTE: VR25 seems to be busy and the latest version in the Magisk repo has a big fat bug, so this is the latest version fixed by me. It worked on my device, cannot guarantee on yours.

#FAQ
🍭 What is this?
The Great Imperial Interdimensional Multiversal Holy Land of NoGoolag
🍭 What do we want?
More privacy
🍭 How do we get it?
Avoiding evil malware like Gapps
https://news.1rj.ru/str/NoGoolag/76
🍭 Why use MicroG ?
In case some buggy app requires gapps, otherwise drop it.
It's an opensource alternative to Gapps. it replaces Google Play Services and prevents Google from getting most of your precious data.
Some apps will crash or complain if you lack some gapps components as MicroG is a WIP. Deal with it.
🍭 Does #pif or SlaveryNet work with microg?
Sometimes, like with gapps, search for solutions in your device groups or forums.
If it doesn't, drop dependent services or get a cheap companion phone for them.
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=microg+pif
🍭 Does [miscellaneous google app] work?
Most of them do, keep, documents, translator...
But we try to replace them for alternatives like:
• Alternatives lists:
https://news.1rj.ru/str/NoGoolag/3319
#Plexus app in fdroid
🍭 Does Google Search / Assistant work?
Some got it working by restoring its app data.
These Google apps work by learning everything about you.
MicroG aims to let Google learn nothing about you.
As an alternative to assistant, You could check out this app for a simple online text search:
Just Search https://f-droid.org/app/co.pxhouse.sas
🍭 Does Play Store work?
Yes. For purchases use a modified playstore from the many MicroG installers.
🍭 But I get Error RH-01 in Playstore
Try this:
- Wipe play data and log out of all google accounts
- Login through settings
- Wait
Now check PlayStore. Sometimes PlayStore takes time to recognise the account. If error isn't solved, you can keep force closing the app, clearing its data, rebooting, go walk the dog, or use the other alternatives to PlayStore.
🍭 Does Gmail app work?
Some people claim it does work if you wipe it and give all permissions to it.
You can still use gmail from other email apps or web browser.
🍭 Does Google Wear work?
No, not yet.

🍭 Does Google Drive work?
Yes, although access to it from other apps (like WhatsApp gdrive backups) probably doesn't.
🍭 Does Google Chrome sync work?
No.
🍭 Does Play Games work?
No. Not every game requires it, some just show a notification, but for the problematic ones, you can try to backup and restore those games from a Gapps device with Titanium backup or OandbackupX.
Or login with a Fakebook account.

MicroG Installers:
Just installing the microg components as user apps will partially function but you will not get full functionality without the main components installed as system apps, like the location components.
There are a few 3rd-party installers that handle that and set all the required permissions etc.
These are the ones generally recommended
*Note: currently all installers use the official microg version, so you can update it from its F-Droid repository.

You need to clean flash a rom that has signature spoofing support and flash this zip in recovery, choose the standard zip if unsure

How much info is Google getting from your phone?
This is the question asked by a journalist in a FoxNews report; then they went around the town with two smartphones, without SIM, no data during travel, one even in airplane mode, and they analysed all the traffic that got sent to Google. And the result is just amazing...

How much info is Google getting from your phone?
Google doesn't have a camera in every home, but it does have a phone - and tracking mechanism - in millions of pockets. #Tucker
