Two years ago to the weekend, we were out protesting with one of London's biggest freedom marches with over 100k.
The police started with a hands-off approach.

This was a noticable change to previous protests where they had hit us heavy handed.
You can even hear me, on the live stream, thank the police.

But then, later in Hyde Park things turned nasty as the video shows.

In the very end, as you can see, it was many of the Freedon marchers who then held the small angry element back from the Police. We linked arms to protect the police line from a small number of masked youths, all with masks or bandanas who had appeared throwing things and had then vanished as quickly as they appeared.
What the film does not show, is that the police then all left at once.
About 300-500 of us stayed in the park until the late hours.
Unheard of.

I was one of the last to leave and loved to see the way all the litter had been tidied up into bags and left hanging on railings by the overflowing bins.

The distinct feeling was, that the police had antagonised the peaceful gathering to get the footage that was needed for the MSM in the papers the next day.
