A union of dock workers in the Italian city of Livorno refused to load a shipment of weapons and explosives today after learning it was destined for the Israeli port of Ashdod.

"The weapons and explosives…will be used to kill the Palestinian population already hit by a severe attack this very night that has caused [the deaths of] hundreds of victims among the civilian population, including many children," the L’Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) said.

Seven Israeli police officers were wounded, two seriously, in the car-ramming attack in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The driver of the vehicle was killed.

A huge fire broke out at a sponge factory this morning in the northern Gaza Strip, as a result of Israeli artillery fire. Civil defense teams managed to successfully contain the blaze.
