Today is INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY!!!! One way to take action is to learn more about the people whose homeland you are in. Today we will be posting links and information about Indigenous People's Day and the Lenape people whose land Philadelphia is in.
What land is this that we live on? Lenapehoking. The Lenape are considered the "Grandfather" tribe, the tribe that other Algonquin tribes would look to for guidance and advice. And here's the thing- Lenape people are *still here*.

Follow today for links to different sites about Lenape and Native existance and resistance in the DE Valley.

There are tribal offices in the Philadelphia area. Did you know that? And up until the late 1990's there was a great organization called The United American Indians of the Delaware Valley based right here in Philadelphia. The Belmont Plateau was home to truly amazing pow wows for decades, a practice that was received in 2019. Look out for those to launch back up again once COVID is put in check.

Check out the links below to see how thriving Native communities right here who are still making it work.
