The city of Philadelphia is adopting participatory budgeting, a democratic idea from Brazil focused on giving citizens more input on budget spending. While it may just be $3 million of the budget, and it appears to limit who participates, you should absolutely fill out this form to apply so you can make sure life sustaining projects the city hasnt provided adequately are prioritized.

Heads up, Philly Restaurant owners and workers, as of yesterday, your Restaurants landlord cant evict you for 180 days. While the moratorium is not enough for you folks, we are rooting for you to survive and rooting that your rent debts can be forgiven.

Now for the next big battle! We are hoping our civilians can stay in their homes as we approach the end of their eviction moratorium, and hoping our city's non restaurant businesses can also receive a moratorium. Businesses caught in shut down should not have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in late rent to stay open.

"Hi Fam. For those of you haven’t heard the city contracted the Holiday Inn Express on 13th as a “ quarantine hotel” for displaced folks “ most at risk” for covid (elderly etc.). In true Philadelphia fashion- eviction is planned for Dec 15th. There is no alternative shelter and no available resources.

Activist groups are staging an “ occupy the hotel” protest. There’s a fund to raise money for tents and other supplies. Anyone who is interested in contributing ( financially to buy tents, donate supplies, camp in person, dropping off food) etc. Can email clubsandwichphilly@gmail.com. This eviction is DAYS away. It’s freezing. It’s Christmas. Bad things are literally happening in Philadelphia and we need a lot of help."

The last time we updated everyone on the prisoner population was November 7th and there were 4291 Adults and 21 Children in Philly Jails.

Today there are 4335 adults, and 28 children in prison. A 33% increase of total children in Philadelphia jails in 1 month.

The main question we should be asking Mayor Kenney and the city council about this is why they think its appropriate that 7 more children are sitting in jail when they should instead be spending time with their parents and working hard in school? No act a child does is worthy of a punishment that takes away the potential of their future and puts them in danger
