Eviction Defense Alert: Possible Call-to-Action TOMORROW for Household in West Philadelphia
What happened: As seen in the above video, earlier today, a household that has been rent striking had their landlord, Li Zhen Cheng, and two employees of Worldwide Restoration LLC, try to forcibly enter the premises without permission. The resident who took the video says “When I came to the door these men were already yelling. They refused to say what they were there for, and then threatened to beat me up and said they would come back tomorrow to change the locks and take out the front door when I asked them to at least explain why they were there.” All of these things violate tenants law in Philadelphia, and even if they didn’t would still be unjust! In the video, Worldwide Restoration employees encouraged the landlord to illegally force entry, and berated residents for not paying rent.
When: The landlord has threatened to return TOMORROW, June 9th, probably in the morning. Whether it’s an empty threat remains to be seen, but residents would like for people to be ready to respond to a call for action tomorrow morning.

Why: The city threatened to evict several encampment sites in Kensington, posting up signs listing the “1800 block of Hilton Street, the 1800 block of Allegheny Avenue, and the (illegible) of East Allegheny or any other place in the neighborhood known as Kensington”. Rallying point is near the intersection of Allegheny & Kensington Ave, where we can see most sites listed.
The city publicly said they won’t evict once a lawsuit was pending, HOWEVER they told all businesses/service providers they’ll be evicting that day. This is a deliberate confusion tactic to keep eyes off of Kensington! We will not let them act unseen on our neighbors.
Residents have requested support early that morning even if the city doesn’t try to evict, as police harassment occurs DAILY regardless of formal notice. Residents report belongings being trashed by cops each morning.
