Just my input
I want to say some things that this strike has brought up in my head. These demands made are amazing. I fully support all of this. It's amazing what workers can do if they stand together and I feel that this movement can be an awakening for people. The general public doesn't see behind the scenes of workers. Nobody understands that we go to work everyday and make nothing compared to the companies. Corporations are there to make money and nothing more, that is the priority. This strike needs to be aimed at these corporations. Nobody should have to work 2-3 jobs and 80+ hours a week to simply survive and provide for family. Nobody should have to have a second job to simply afford insurance so they don't drown in debt and waste away from not getting regular check ups. Nobody working in a multi billion dollar company, not even a cart pusher, or file organizer, should be paid less than what is needed for basic amenities. I thoroughly hope this movement makes a difference. I will be standing by you and showing these companies that giving them half of my life is worth more than a measly minimum wage payment.

Virginia?
Random question but I see there is no organization for Virginia in the about section of the sub. Is there going to be or should Virginia s stand with dc or something?

Physical Posters
Hi everyone! I'm planning on turning the current flyer we have into physical posters to put around my city. I hope you all do the same.
Also I think it'd be great if we could have more poster designs.

Question
Is there a resource to help connect people in specific states? I haven’t heard anyone local talk about this, and I want to help spread the word, but I’m looking for resources

Question about a common complaint from leftists about this movement.
I've seen several leftist creators on TikTok and reddit make the point that this strike might not be a great idea because
1) it has no support from established unions, no funds to help people that lose their jobs as a result, not organized enough past "take the day off".
2) if this strike fails (and some people think it probably will) it will turn the general public off of striking or unionizing in the future.
I highly respect these perspectives because they do make sense and they come from people that always seem to have the well-being of the worker be their top priority.
I would like to hear the organizer's of this strike's position/comments on these issues. Or if they've already addressed them a link to that would be appreciated.

How to keep this strike from being a complete failure (and other inputs)
I feel like a lot of people are missing the main idea of this sub and the strike entirely so ill say what i believe we should be doing differently:
•This sub is not for the people who only intend to strike. Maybe its just me, but I saw this subreddit as more of a call to action. If you came upon this and figured you would be doing your duty by striking then you missed the point. The "organizers" of this strike is us, plain and simple. Nobody who isn't a celebrity of some sort can organize something this big on their own. However, a person or two can make a significant difference in their communities (divide and conquer). Pass flyers, make social media pages, and prepare for YOUR community.
•stop asking for changes to the demands. I see them more as guidelines but like i said previously, you must take charge in your community and if your community thinks they want this and that then add it to the demands of YOUR community.
•stop asking about the race and names of the "organizers". It doesn't matter. Touch grass.
Finally, if I haven't lost you with the "touch grass" sentence then I want to explain why I think this way of running a general strike is ideal: while this modular approach is putting LESS (not NO) weight on the idea of it being national keeps people from being worried about the amount of followers the main pages have. Additionally, if not the entire nation is rocked by the strike. Their will at least be some small victories to be discussed and build momentum from. I'll probably add some more stuff later but thats my two cents
Tldr: NOW is the time to take charge in YOUR COMMUNITIES. Cater the leadership and demands to what YOUR COMMUNITY WANTS. When they see towns and districts accross America making their own demands to better their future then they'll take it more seriously.

Seize the means
Fully support the general strike!
Can we just go all out though and seize the means of production, shut down all but the most critical infrastructure, distribute existing goods and resources accordingly and save the fucking planet, or nah?
Is it too soon?
I think it might be too late!

Education Staff
Hello,
I really like the idea of this strike and currently work for a public school, but am concerned about the possibility of losing a job for trying to be a supporter.
In all honestly, I want to strike. I know that the more people involved, the stronger this will be.
So, what are ways educational staff like me can support this and not risk losing our jobs?
Can I legally strike? Can I put up flyers? Does it depend on the state or district?
I would love any recommendations or information on legalities.
Overall, I just want to be able to support this. I know its important.
Thank you!

Good news!
After discussing our ongoing potential strike, local representatives of UFCW have voiced support of the October strike movement. More discussion will have to take place but they are looking into it. I'll keep everyone updated as more info come available.

I'm afraid we're overhyping this
I'm sorry if i'm being a doomer here but I'm not sure how this strike can expand outside of Reddit and into the national fray. How will it be ensured that this strike can live up to itself with or without the approval of certain groups, politicians, or the American people themselves? That's what I feel is a question that needs to be answered quickly.
