Several years ago my kids found a dog and brought it in the house. I found my son carefuly picking the fleas off the dog and dropping them in the carpet. So then we had fleas. We bombed the house, but still had them hatching out. The solution was to put a small desk lamp over a bowl with water and soap in it. The fleas are attracted to the light and jump toward it and fall in the bowl. The soap makes sure there's no surface tension so they can't float... straight to the bottom where the drown. So after a couple weeks we had killed all of them.
