HUGE FIRE at Kuwait's Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery injures several workers but output continues

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has said the blaze is isolated,and a small number of contractors suffered minor injuries.

A deputy chief exec. for KNPC told state TV the unit should return to full operation in the coming hours.

"The refinery operations and export operations were not affected and there has been no impact to local marketing operations and supplies to the electricity and water ministry," KNPC added on its Twitter account.

Last month, KNPC said it started full operation to expand refining capacity and produce lower-emission fuel. The Mina al-Ahmadi refinery is expected to produce 346,000 barrels per day. (Reuters)
