NY AG Letitia James has sent cease and desist letters to 2 leading crypto lending platforms and demanded further information from 3 more, with redacted letters appearing to show Nexo and Celsius as two of the targets, according to The Block.
Although the firms’ names were redacted, the file names of the images showing the letters noscripts “Nexo Letter” and “Celsius Letter”, with the former indicating a failure to register as a broker-dealer violated the Martin Act.
Celsius appear to have until 1 November to respond with information, but Nexo has already been unavailable in New York since last year, leading CEO Antoni Trenchev to question if the letters had been addressed incorrectly.
