The geological history of our Earth is not what they say it is. Such lifeforms which existed on a scale much grander than that of what we have today.
Let's take a brief look at Devil's Tower for example, from making a rough estimate, at a width of 250 meters, it's height prior to being cut would have been 1.6 kilometers tall. That all depends on what width to height ratio you use, but even if you choose a more generous ratio, it's height absolutely towers any living tree today - which have a max height only half that of Devil's Tower's stump.

WEEK 7
"When i started the US CrossFit gym in Encinitas, California, I wanted to find out what motivated my clients. Those who came with an entrinsic (external) motivation--like looking better in a bathing suit, being more fit, or shedding the holiday pounds--lasted an average of 3.2 months. They then disappeared. Their motivation broke the inertia from their prior efforts, but couldn't accelerate them to the next level.
One day a stray cat walked in named Bobby. He'd been attending meetings for a few months at AA two doors down. Bobby looked like a sickly stick. I figured he wouldn't last a week.
"Bobby, why are you here?
He smiled. "Been drinkin' and usin' for ten years and almost killed myself. A friend finally hauled me to AA. At meetings i'd see you guys doin' all this crazy stuff. Wondered whether that could be me. So here i am. I wanna feel like i a real man"
I'd been wrong to judge him. He'd birthed desire at the bottom he'd hit, one he never wanted to go back to.
Bobby struggled but stuck with it. Day in and day out he kept up. He worked on his mind-set. He stayed late to work his core and pick up nuggets from me and the coaching staff. His intrinsic (internal) motivation surpassed most of all our clients. Life is full of surprises.
Twelve months later, Bobby won the Fire in the belly award at Kokoro Camp 12. His speech still makes me proud.
"Where else can you train your heart?... This was just an amazing experience.
I'm so humbled by you all...and very grateful!"
Bobby was a real man. His journey was just beginning.
MOTIVATION THROUGH INSPIRATION LEADS TO long term commitment. Inspire means "to feel spirit within" Motivate means "to move" Move your spirit through your training. That's what Bobby did. He discovered a deep intrinsic motivation to continue. Every time he came to the gym, he connected to his purpose in life--moving from survival to significance as a man.
Breaking the inertia of old habits gets you started. But it must give way to motivation through inspiration. Then you'll train because you love it. The journey will reward your spirit and you will keep moving in return.
