Texas Dem DEFECTS to GOP over border, oil/gas industry & defund police policies
Texas state representative Ryan Guillen announced Monday that he was switching from the Democrat party to the Republicans after realising his views align with the GOP, claiming Dem values had “disastrous consequences” in South Texas.
Guillen claimed his “fiscally conservative, pro-business, and pro-life values are no longer in-step with the Democrat Party of today,” citing the “ideology of defunding the police, destroying the oil and gas industry, and opening our border.”
GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Texas governor Greg Abbott welcomed his switch, the latter claiming the Dems were “abandoning the people of South Texas and their values.”
