🤓 🇱🇧 🇮🇱 Some clarification regarding the direct negotiations between Lebanese and Israeli officials today:

Netanyahu greatly blew out of proportion what this meeting meant, as there is no actual talks about “future economic cooperation” or whatever he was babbling about as the discussions during these meeting are still solely focused on the implementation of the ceasefire. Thats what these meetings and mechanism are for in the first place

Main difference is that now the Lebanese side will now send a civilian official to directly attend the meetings alongside LAF representatives, and the Israeli side reciprocated by sending an envoy on behalf of the director of the National Security council

This is a far FAR cry from the “normalization” step everyone’s been talking about. The only thing of interest is that since there’s now a Lebanese civilian figure (an ardent anti-hezbollah politician i might add) in the mechanism committee, it means that they could now theoretically speaking be able to talk about matters beyond security concerns during future meetings
