For Perry, here in Texas, last I read the pardon process is a whole extra thing, I do no believe the governor has unilateral authority to release anyone he wants, there's an entire pardon board as a check and balance to prevent fuckery. It's probably those assholes halting the process.

Fun little side bit here.

I was stationed with Perry at JBLM, before he PCS'd to Hood (Cavazos).

Back then it was Specialist Perry.

Specialist Perry was known basewide as "the guy who kept homeless people in his barracks room". This was discovered by MPs, and was actually sneaking them in and out of the bottom floor window of the room to dodge the CQ desk. The rumor was that instead of paying any cash fee for this, they were doing "favors" for him.

I don't mean to slander ole Perry, so I'll leave that as a rumor. But I do know the homeless thing was verified.

I talked to him several times while he was in my unit and he's a very very genuine person, a dork for sure and a "God damn it Perry" kind of person, but he was never dishonest or meant Iil intent.
