Soldiers from the 147th Infantry engaging heavily fortified Japanese positions on lwo Jima with an M1918 BAR and M9 bazooka, lwo Jima, 1945. The 147th came ashore in March, while the battle still raged and would receive the unenviable task of mopping up lwo. Estimates said there were a few hundred Japanese left but throughout April and May, the 147th would route out and eliminate over 1,600 devoted Japanese defenders and take over 800 prisoners.

A perfect example for why the scalpel is useless without a jackhammer in the other hand.
The obsession with special operations highspeed lowdrag operator type units made popular by gwot propaganda is not only disingenuous bullshit that glosses over these units' overreliance on a massive support system ready to bail them out when the job doesnt go by the numbers (a common occurance) but its also getting guys killed as the brass falls prey to its own propaganda.
The takeaway:
When CAS, QRF, and a bigass multimillion dollar support network isnt a push of button away, an Infantry RifleSquad rolling heavy with beltfeds and HE > highspeed lowdrag operators running around with a carbine and a hilux. I want to carry all the firepower and organic equipment I can to fight my way out of any ambush, not rely on some tenuously assigned air asset or qrf unit several miles away, to bail me out.
