forces

In general, the ring size should be 1 to 2 cm larger than the circumference of
the limb.





Uniplanar external fixation

placing the bars closer to the limb.

Increasing the diameter of the half pin dramatically increases the stability of the construct because the stiffness of the pin is proportional to the radius of the pin to the fourth power (r4).

Increasing the divergence angle between the pins
increases the stability of the construct.

Spreading the fixation elements over the entire length of the bone segment rather than clustering them all in one region will increase the stability of the external fixator construct.
