Once again, with the light of the Star of Bethlehem, these Christmas hymns rise above the world. And the Church of Christ, preserving earthly life within itself, the life of the God-Man Christ, from His appearance in the world until His departure, now, illuminated by the momentous event of His Nativity, has become that Bethlehem cave where "the All-Perfect One is born as a Child, and the Beginningless One receives a beginning..." And from the days when the historical event of Christ's birth took place, and until now, from generation to generation, in the hearts of men, illuminated by Divine grace, Christ is reborn, filling life with the unchanging eternity of Divine love. Children of God, my dear ones! I heartily congratulate you all on the dear feast of the Nativity of Christ! May the spirit of Christ be reborn in us through the grace of this great feast, that we may live His life. And let us cast aside the agonizing anticipation of coming tribulations in the joyful and reverent hope of an ever-approaching meeting with the Living God, so that we may worship Him not in dreams and conjecture, but face to face!
