Something a therapist once said: "You're not healing to be able to handle trauma, pain, anxiety, depression. You're used to those. You're healing to be able to handle joy and to accept happiness back into your life."

So often we, understandably, focus on the difficult emotions. Once the difficult emotions become easier and wiped away a bit we begin to see the joy and happiness that was hidden behind them.

Healing is not about surviving the storm, it is about learning to dance in the sunlight again. Let it go and enjoy what we have now. Your healing is to love yourself, accept that you are not perfect and to make your own happiness; it cannot be given to you or created by someone else.

You’ve mastered pain; now it’s time to master peace, love, and the kind of joy you forgot you deserved.

Once you have put in the work every day little by little then, you'll start to truly heal. Every little positive effort counts and adds to your healing.

Breathing exercises

Walking or nature walks
Dancing
Reading
Chatting with a friend, family member, colleague, or kind stranger.
