Jesus Christ, Son of God, and source of divine wisdom, we pray that the next pope may embody the virtues of the great leaders of the See of Rome. May he stand firm upon the rock of faith like Saint Peter, guiding Your Church in truth. May he defend the sacred teachings with courage, like Pope Leo the Great. May he cleanse the Church from traces of corruption, like Pope Gregory VII. May he uphold spiritual authority to lead Your people, like Pope Innocent III. May he resist heresies with steadfastness, like Pope Gregory IX. May he safeguard the dignity of the papacy, like Pope Boniface VIII. May he keep the light of faith burning in times of crisis, like Pope Pius XII. May he spread the message of love and justice to the world, like Pope John Paul II. Lord Jesus, who established Your Church upon the rock, send forth the Holy Spirit upon the cardinals, so they may choose a pope worthy of wisdom, courage, and the faith of the Church’s great leaders.
