Year One of AMLO's Mexico | Dissent Magazine
When AMLO took office there was a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and renewal. Today, there is a growing sense of unease about whether his administration can deliver the changes that Mexicans so desperately need.
"What I really mean here though is: Listen to the dissidents. They will not appear on television. They will be smeared and treated as lunatics. But you need them if you are going to be able to resist the absolute barrage of misinformation, or to hear yourself think over the pounding war drums."

Hello everyone!
Today I decided to send something different.
I'm sending you the 9 issues published so far of the Build Zine, curated by members of the DSA.
In them, "organizers describe their concrete projects and the theories underlying these projects."
They're not too long (each of them is about 40-50 pages) and thought that some of you might have been interested in this. I read 'em all and found them quite enjoyable, and they're the ideal for political organizers.
With that said, starting from tomorrow we'll go back to publishing the usual content. Have a good day!

Iraq – Why Doesn’t the US Move Out Despite the Iraqi Parliament’s Decision? - Global Research
Why doesn’t the U.S. respect the decision made by the Iraqi Parliament and move out of Iraqi territory? – The short answer is, because the US doesn’t respect anybody’s – any country’s – decision or sovereignty, as long as it doesn’t meet their objectives.…
"These stem from unions’ fundamental contradiction: they are necessary but insufficient vehicles for workers to achieve their goals. This is further complicated by the tightrope that unions must walk between militancy and bureaucracy. If self-preservation led unions to prioritize maintaining their bureaucratic organizations in recent decades, the escalating state and employer offensive has made that response increasingly untenable. Renewed militancy is key to labor’s future"

Why Unions Are Good — But Not Good Enough
For socialists, unions are paradoxical organizations. On the one hand, unions are essential for creating a workers' organization that can oppose capital and challenge it for power. But they are also an insufficient vehicle for mobilizing those workers to…
