John 4:34-38

[34] Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. [35] Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. [36] Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. [37] For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ [38] I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”

Psalm 56
[1] Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me; [2] my enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly.[3] When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. [4] In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? [5] All day long they injure my cause; all their thoughts are against me for evil.[6] They stir up strife, they lurk; they watch my steps,
as they have waited for my life.[7] For their crime will they escape? In wrath cast down the peoples, O God! [8] You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? [9] Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. [10] In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise, [11] in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?
[12] I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you. [13] For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God
in the light of life.

be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Psalm 35:1-6

Great Is the LORD

Of David.

[1] Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me!
[2] Take hold of shield and buckler
and rise for my help!
[3] Draw the spear and javelin
against my pursuers!
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation!”

[4] Let them be put to shame and dishonor
who seek after my life!
Let them be turned back and disappointed
who devise evil against me!
[5] Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them away!
[6] Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them!

Titus 3:14-15
[14] And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.[15] All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith.
Grace be with you all.

1 Corinthians 15:56-57
[56] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. [57] But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Exodus 14:10-14
[10] When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD. [11] They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? [12] Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” [13] And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. [14] The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

A lack of faith in God will cause you to do and desire foolish things, like remaining in slavery rather than freedom! God is working, God is in control and while we stand before the (Red Sea) so to speak, don’t lose heart! God has promised you victory, and your pathway to victory is and will always be Christ! Trust Gods plan, not mans ideas or methods! God will never fail you!

Watch your Mouth! Is what the first thing comes to mind when I read this portion of Scripture, I’m talking to my self of course! You may find this a helpful reminder as well!

James 3:1-12

Taming the Tongue

[1] Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. [2] For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. [3] If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. [4] Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. [5] So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! [6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. [7] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, [8] but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. [9] With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. [10] From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. [11] Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? [12] Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water.
Psalm 66:16-20
[16] Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. [17] I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. [18] If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. 19] But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. [20] Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!
2 Corinthains 11:12-15
12 But what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting.13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.
1 Timothy 1:4–6
4nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering 2the administration of God which is by faith.
5 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion,

Galatians 6:7-10

[7] Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. [8] For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. [9] And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. [10] So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Sometimes there is a very real and dangerous temptation to get lost in the mundane. We walk through our daily lives and drift from the diligence and passion we once had in serving our Master and King!

Little by little our patterns and habits drift…our prayer life moves from eager and passionate to cold and routine. Our time in God’s Word becomes a burden…one more thing to check off an endless to-do list…then little by little our lives become unrecognizable, as if we have blinders on…we are sowing in the flesh…our faith is shaken into fear, our peace overtaken by anxiety and our joy overshadowed by a heavy sadness.

Paul closes his exhortation to the church at Galatians with a charge to not grow weary…

Why?

Because we are in a constant battle, and at times it seems like evil is going to completely overtake us…or we have grown impatient in our sowing…

It seems as if the work we do for Christ isn’t important enough or isn’t producing results…(this, by the way, is one of the great lies Satan uses to tear apart families, keeping parents from focusing on their marriage and their children).

We must remember, there is a great span of time between sowing and reaping…

But let us not grow weary, whether we are fighting the battle of the mundane, or feeling overwhelmed by all that is going on in our nation and in Afghanistan. Our God is faithful, our Salvation is sure, our King rules with precision and complete Power, He is Sovereign over all!!

So, if you have allowed your heart to grow weary, confess that before God, He will cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

And then…let us, each one not grow weary, continue to serve Him who is worthy, sowing in the Spirit…in whatever role He has commanded you through His Word! Focus on the Lord, draw near to Him, worshiping Him and Him alone and serve Him with all diligence!!

Philippians 4:4-7

[4] Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. [5] Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; [6] do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

So the question remains…

How will you sow today?

Jeremiah 3:11-15

[11] And the LORD said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. [12] Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,

“‘Return, faithless Israel,
declares the LORD.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
declares the LORD;
I will not be angry forever.
[13] Only acknowledge your guilt,
that you rebelled against the LORD your God
and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree,
and that you have not obeyed my voice,
declares the LORD.
[14] Return, O faithless children,
declares the LORD;
for I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.

[15] “‘And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

A faithful shepherd, a faithful man of God’s Word, a faithful man after His own heart, is God’s blessing to His people!❤️. May God in His great mercy bless our nation with more faithful shepherds, but first our people must repent: 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

[13] When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, [14] if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”❤️
