A day often overlooked now, with celebrations being a shadow of what they once were in years previous.

They want you to forget your traditions. They want you to remain isolated and not gather as a community. But some of us remember.

Get out there with your friends and family, have a bonfire, set off some fireworks, talk a little treason ;-)

The problem with the John Lewis Christmas ad isn't just that the only white person in the ad is a literal alien, but that Christmas as an event is centred around the black family.

Usually the Christmas ads focus on a mixed race family, black male-white female combo of course, but the purpose is to depict the average British family as celebrating the same traditions as ever it's just now we're mixed race.

The John Lewis ad goes further, now the entire family is black and our people are aliens, not just in a literal sense but also in relation to what was once our heritage and traditions.

In this ad the replacement is complete and total.
