On this day in 1819 James Watt, the Scottish inventor, died. James Watt FRS FRSE was a Scottish inventor, mechanical engineer, and chemist who improved on Thomas Newcomen's 1712 Newcomen steam engine with his Watt steam engine in 1776, which was fundamental to the changes brought by the Industrial Revolution in both his native Great Britain and the rest of the world.

While working as an instrument maker at the University of Glasgow, Watt became interested in the technology of steam engines. He realised that contemporary engine designs wasted a great deal of energy by repeatedly cooling and reheating the cylinder. Watt introduced a design enhancement, the separate condenser, which avoided this waste of energy and radically improved the power, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of steam engines. Eventually he adapted his engine to produce rotary motion, greatly broadening its use beyond pumping water.

Watt also developed the idea of horsepower and the SI unit of power the watt is named after him.

It looks like the much vaunted freedom in Scotland has been very shortlived affair. Talk is of restrictions being put back in place very soon with surging numbers of covid cases.

The Scottish government has been determined to hold onto what were supposed to be temporary covid measures. So it looks like we are likely to see restrictions on People's liberty coming and going for the foreseeable future.

The public should not accept the government being able to keep the powers and use them whenever the feel .we always knew that cases woukd rise but there is no crisis with hospital admissions and deaths still very low

The petition to name the new Glasgow M8 bridge after Kriss Donald has been shut down as "inappropriate".

Site administrators at 38 Degrees have removed the petition from view despite the petition having garnered over 4,500 signatures in support of the proposal.

15 year-old Kriss was murdered simply for being "a white boy" and no worthy memorial for him has ever been erected anywhere.

The fact that Kenny Smith's petition has been closed down further highlights the fact that anti-white racism is ignored. Worse still, is that the names and memory of the victims of anti-white racism, are being hidden from the attention of the public.

Never forget Kriss Donald. 38 Degrees and the other anti-whites do not want you to hear his name, but we must continue to remember him and all the other victims of anti-white hatred.

On this day in 1788 the trial of William Brodie, also known as Deacon Brodie, took place in Edinburgh. William Brodie was a Scottish cabinet-maker, deacon of a trades guild, and Edinburgh city councillor, who maintained a secret life as a housebreaker, partly for the thrill, and partly to fund his gambling.

He had been a pillar of the community in public. But in secret used his knowledge of locks and carpentry to carry out many robberies. He was a terrible gambler and also had five children by two mistresses.

Part of his downfall was to recruit a gang to aid in his robberies, two members of which later turned against him and gave evidence at his trial. He was found guilty and was hanged at the ld tolbooth in high street on 1st October 1788 before a crowd of 40,000.

There is still a pub on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh named after him, Deacon Brodie's Tavern. A close of the Royal Mile, which contained his home and workshop is still called Brodie's Close.

What an absolute load of rubbish. The SNP want to demonise white children,make them feel guilty for something that did not happen and simply for being born White and Scottish. They are going to have the idea of white privilege drilled into them and be told to reflect on their own racism.

On this day in 1640, during the second Bishops war, a Scottish Covenanters army under the command of Alexander Leslie defeated an English Army under Lord Conway. The Scottish army had made its way towards Newcastle, a city it needed to capture to supply the large Scottish force or they would have to retreat back to Scotland, The Northern approaches to Newcastle were heavily defended. So Leslie decided to cross the Tyne at Newburn and attack the weaker southern defences. The Scots quickly won the battle with both sides losing approximately 300 troops each. The Scottish army was then able to occupy Newcastle.The only significant military action of the war, victory enabled the Scots to occupy Newcastle, which provided the bulk of London's coal supplies.

The Treaty of Ripon agreed on 26 October allowed the Scots to occupy large parts of northern England, and paid them daily expenses of £850, which only ended with the August 1641 Treaty of London. Funding this forced Charles to recall Parliament,

A Scottish man who had been made homeless with his daughter was told he had to pay £1200 for a rundown council flat as temporary accomidation..even though he only earned £900 a month.

The flat had a broken security door, close windows that were falling out., Glass and food all over the close floor, cracked walls in the flat, lights that didnt work, a leaking bathroom anongst other defects. The council expected a man and his child to live in these conditions, that smacked of a slum.

Meanwhile the same Ayrshire council just voted to bring more refugess in , they already were involved in bringing Syrians and others in not that long ago. I doubt that they will be giving houses to these refugess in slum like conditions at rents that would make the slum land lords embarrassed. There has even been talk of the need to build new bigger houses to accomidate the Afghans large families .

Once again we see Scots treated as second class citizens , as Immigrants receive preferential treatment .

On this day in 1797 the massacre of Tranent happened in East Lothian. On 28 August a proclamation was drawn up by local people objecting to the connoscription of Scots into the British Militia, to be used either for controlling their own people or for deployment elsewhere.

On the 29th the proclamation was handed to the recruiting officer but was ignored. Later a group from the local colliery community confronted the troops, who opened fire on them. Several of the protesters were killed.

The protesters then fled from the town but were pursued by dragoons who indiscriminately cut down anyone who came into their path. The final death toll is unknown but was thought to be in excess of 20, including women and children, with many more injured.

The statue above was erected in Tranent in 1995 and features Jackie Crookston, one of the leaders of the protesters who was shot dead, and a child.

It appears that all is not well with race relations in Scotland even with the SNPs much promoted claim to be fighting for equality and anti-racism.

The most startling fact of it though is that it is relations between ethnic communities that are in crisis and it is an SNP minister who is being blamed for it.

Yousaf, as part of his complaint about his child allegedly being refused a place at nursery run by an Indian family because of his Muslim name, went on a radio show and claimed that Hindus in Scotland acted in a racially discriminatory way towards Muslims due to religious differences. This of course hasn't gone down too well in the Hindu community, deepening divides that may exist.

Yousaf is of course the one responsible for bringing in the hate crime bill, but it appears he himself may be responsible for stirring up racial conflict in Scotland.
