“Ground”体裁表现为反复的低音旋律，和固定旋律音型(Ostinato)、顽固低音动机(Basso Ostinato)意似。 这种低音动机/旋律进行不以变奏形式展开，而是贯穿全曲反复演奏，其他声部在此之上发展。
