The debacle at MSU happened three years ago today. The police forced ticket-holding nationalists to move through a violent antifa mob just to reach our legal, permitted event. When fighting inevitably broke out, they used it as the pretext to stop us from getting into the event. They also arrested and charged a man who has since become one of my closest friends and comrades, Greg Conte, with "assault" for the crime of verbally demanding that police do their job and either let ticket-holding attendees pass the police lines, or separate the two sides.
Greg is still awaiting trial, three years later, while hundreds of violent antifa in states all over the country have had their charges dismissed.
I was so impressed with the courage and dignity that I saw that day, in the face of terror and officially-sanctioned lawlessness, injustice and corruption, I was moved to write this piece about it. It's a reminder that even though the leadership of those long-disbanded Alt Right organizations failed, their rank and file men were trailblazers in the very early battles over free speech and system oppression we are all so aware of today.
