What's funny is that this article doesn't even attempt to defend liberalism from a social or cultural standpoint. The author would probably concede that liberalism has utterly failed in these regards and has unleashed horrible consequences for the family, culture, religion, gender relations, etc.

His argument is purely from a flimsy economic standpoint. Perhaps liberalism has increased our GDP, but at what cost? I think most people would tolerate slightly lower wages for secure demographics, law & order, cultural sanity, and the preservation of the natural order through law.

Trump's rally in Erie, PA had around half the attendance he got in the same place in 2016 and 2018. The energy isn't there and it's never coming back.
