The much awaited Game of Zones has begun and Persistence One is all set for the month-long competition 💪

Game of Zones is a series of adversarial testnet challenges designed to prepare the Cosmos ecosystem for the upcoming launch of the IBC module.

Before the competition kicked off our CEO, Tushar Aggarwal, and CTO, Deepanshu Tripathi, talked about plans for GoZ and key take away from Game of Stakes (adversarial testnet for Cosmos Hub).

We are really excited to be part of the advent of IBC and continue on the victorious march that started in Game of Stakes (Winner 🏆: Never Jailed Category).

Phase 1 of Game of Zones is in action and teams across the Cosmos ecosystem are demonstrating an exceptional spirit. 100+ teams are actively competing to win the challenges listed in Game of Zones.

At Persistence One, we are constantly improvising and innovating to come up with an optimised solution for each challenge. So far our team stands strong in the rankings (as per the Unofficial leaderboards) and making progress further. With competition in full swing our team is also developing opensource resources which may help other teams to perform better.

We believe real innovation comes with collaboration, and taking a step forward in the same direction we published a noscript to update the Relayer clients automatically in IBC for GoZ. The noscript supports:

🛠 Error handling
🔄 Retry on failure
⚠️ Handle failure - Makes a call if the update fails multiple times

In addition to the noscript, we also released a 'GoZ Updates' blog series to keep the entire Blockchain/Crypto community updated with the latest developments and activities related to Game of Zones.

Cosmos is inching towards INTEROPERABILITY. Stay tuned!

Phase 1a of the Game of Zones has concluded, and due to technical issues the GoZ team has decided to restart the competition.

The main objective of the first week of the competition was connection liveness for the longest time. Persistence One successfully maintained connection for more than 3 days and we are confident that we will achieve better results in the upcoming Phases of the competition.

It has been a great learning experience for us
at Persistence One, and we are excited about the next phase. Our lessons from Phase 1a:

♦️How to set up a zone and relay transactions using IBC commands
♦️How gas price volatility affects transaction clearance likelihood
♦️Difference b/w channels and paths, and their significance
♦️How essential paths are in making IBC txns, and how to keep the paths alive by keeping clients updated
♦️How to set up a sentry for hub node to handle official outages
♦️ The semantics of IBC packets, transactions and various other IBC languages

Game of Zones provided a platform to all the developers and security enthusiasts in the Cosmos ecosystem to stress test the IBC Protocol and discover the most creative implementations of the protocol.

We all witnessed some of the best deception and confusion attacks, custom zones, and the high spirit of the community in Phase 3 of GoZ. As a part of our continual efforts to keep the Cosmos and Blockchain community, in general, updated we released a blog covering the highlights of Phase 3.

The Game of Zones concluded a few weeks back, but still, some of the attacks are seeding curiosity in the minds of the Cosmos community members. In addition to that, the custom zones developed during Phase 3 have built a strong case for the IBC Protocol.

GoZ, the IBC adversarial testnet, might have ended but it was the beginning of endless possibilities that will unlock with IBC.

Going forward, as the IBC Protocol becomes production-ready and live with the Stargate Upgrade, we will see a lot more projects building in the Cosmos ecosystem and reaping the benefits of being a Cosmonaut 🧑🏽‍🚀
