1️⃣4️⃣ ACTION STEP

Lawyers at Australians Say No are drafting a position statement for WA resources sector. They have generously offered us a group discount and for a small fee of $50 each will:

1. Draft Statement of Position
2. Send to the WA Government Ministers and cc: individual employers
3. Deal with response from employers.

This cost is minimal when you take into account the usual hourly rate for a lawyer.

The submissions will not include your name. Obviously we want to ensure that the statements get out to all employers. We understand money is tight for all of us but they are doing their best to represent the majority of us for as little outlay as possible. In saying that if you need to group together do so, but just make sure that each company is represented.

To ensure your employer is included in the distribution list to receive this Statement of Position, complete this form:
https://form.jotform.com/212908308017856

Please do this as soon as possible. Closing date for this will be COB Friday 29.10.21.

1️⃣3️⃣ ACTION STEP

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM AUSTRALIANS SAY NO AND ACTIONS FOR YOU TO TAKE NOW.

Hi All,

Admin have had a lengthy discussion with lead people from the platform today and would like to highlight some new developments to give everyone some hope.

Much is happening behind the scenes. Due to recent developments the lawyers have redirected their strategies as they feel they need to be commencing State Class Actions. A couple of these are already moving forward in the Eastern States. We will not go into specifics in this post but would like to say they are now turning their attention to WA.

The team is now working with up to 5 groups of lawyers who have been working predominantly pro bono. The main costs will be incurred when they engage Barristers to actually act on their behalf in court. They have started the State Class Actions as they can see we are desperate and need remedy ASAP for these mandates.

Meanwhile the Nation Class Action is still progressing. They are engaged in taking affadavits from the whistle-blower health professionals. This National Class Action challenges the science and it needs to be watertight. They will not rush this as it is too important that they get it right.

So what can you do now to help:

1. Regularly visit australianssayno.com for updates.

2. Go to your industry campaign page and fill out the contact form. This is way you will be in the database for email updates specific to your industry. Whilst there, sign petition and consider donating. This money will also help towards cost of barristers and keeping things running smoothly

3. Share this platform widely so everyone can all get into their appropriate industry support groups.

4. Share our social media flyers and email or print our pdfs to share. You can find them in the pinned posts. The bigger the movement the better the outcome. We need to bring all industries together, support each other and work as one.

5. Read through the National Class Action and make a pledge if you can.

More to follow very soon regarding our Industry Position Statement.

WA State of Emergency was extended from 8 Oct to 4 Jan. on Wed 27 Oct parliament voting to extend SoE to 4 July.

“the bill to extend the SoE for WA is currently in the Legislative Assembly to be extended from the 4th Jan to the 4th July. Everyone needs to look up who their representatives are and contact them email/phone. If there is enough pressure there might worry about the next election if they pass it again. Probs not but it's better than doing nothing”
