Hey there, the weekly update is back again. This week post contained:
• Result: Would you like to see GCam posts?
• Old build of ROMs, all in one place
• Poll: Should Pixel Feature Drop posted in channel?
• Finding Verizon Pixel locked bootloader users

Last week, I asked all of you to vote on the poll to see if you are interested in GCam posts. At first, I have started to post GCam that are compatible with our device, but it seems like most of you use Camera PX. I will honestly say, yeah, it is indeed the best GCam for our device, you are not wrong. By the way, do you guys really want to discover more GCam? Is it because Camera PX has not been updated for a while? I really don't know, and I didn't expect the final result will be like that. Anyway, I will follow what you guys vote for.

Do you want to flash an older version of custom ROMs? Thanks to @blckbear99, he archived most of the ROMs build and gather it in one place. You can find the old version of custom ROMs over here (you can also use #blck-archive in the discussion group to get the link too). Keep in mind, not every old build of ROMs is over there, like LineageOS. Since he just started a few days ago, it is impossible to retrieve it back unless anyone out there has archived it earlier. By the way, if you had wanted to flash an older version of stock ROMs, download it from the Google website. Here the direct link for sailfish and marlin builds.

Since Pixel Feature Drop started, we have got some of its features, but very few. I don't know whether I should post it as news on the channel or not, so you decide in the poll. It is quite good to know we have some of these additions by Google till now, but mostly we get it through app updates.

Last small news. So anyone here has Verizon Pixel that is still locked? Please let @jaredd704 know as he wanted to try some stuff.

Announcement (for our Pixel):
This one will be my last GCam 7.3.018 apk, the next version will be based on GCam 8.1. Starting from GCam 8, I'll share the version with CStark's team, so there will be one single version for Pixels and non-Pixels. We share the same philosophy of minimal mods, so we've started working together. In this way, I'll be able to focus on improving my code in order to make it cleaner and more modular.

Method for fixing Google Photos unlimited original quality backup in ROMs for Pixel 1/XL:
1. Boot TWRP recovery
2. Go to Mount and check System
3. Go to Advanced > File Manager
4. Go to /system/etc/sysconfig and delete pixel_2018_exclusive.xml file
5. Go to Mount again and uncheck System
6. Reboot to system and clear Google Photos app data
7. Launch Google Photos and the perk should be there, enjoy

4 days till Christmas! Anyway, the weekly post arrived as usual. This week post contained:
• Result: Should Pixel Feature Drop posted in the channel?
• GCam 8.1 around the corner
• Google Photos Unlimited Original Quality Backup for other devices (Update)
• Fix Google Photos perk on Pixel 1/XL ROMs

According to last week's poll, most of you had wanted to see Pixel Feature Drop posted in the channel as news. So, it is going to be more detailed rather than a simple post only. Since Pixel Feature Drop is released every three months, the next one will be announced around March.

Good news! GCam v8.1 mod is coming to Pixel 1 soon (in case you miss this post). I have confirmed with Urnyx05 that it is coming for our device. He is collaborating with Camera PX dev, cstark27. It is cool to hear it, as it will be stable rather than all those buggy builds we have for now. I hope it is coming soon, and when it is released, I will be posting it on the channel as soon as I know it. Stay tuned for that!

And a piece of bad news (depend). Google Photo unlimited original quality backup apparently doesn't work on other devices. I have share it in this post earlier. It does show it is a Pixel device, but when uploading the original quality of photo & video, it used up the account storage quota. Actually, Google has patched this quite early, around 2017.

So you have flashed custom ROM on your Pixel 1/XL device and realise Google Photos perk is different? Here a post that showed you how to fix the issue, and yes, it is 100% working. You should be able to upload photos & videos in original quality without any issue. By the way, if you think that doesn't affect you, as it is showing perk expires on 31 Jan 2022, you may leave it there, since it will still upload at original quality without any issue.

So another 4 days till the year of 2021! The last weekly update post of 2020 is here, and this post contained:
• When will GCam 8 become stable?
• When Android 11 stable ROM will be released?
• New ROMs: ArrowOS (Unofficial)

So GCam 8 has some new features & UI. Yup, there is compatible GCam 8 with our Pixel already, but all are unstable, and some features are missing or not working like Portrait, Astrophotography, Video mode & others, maybe. There is a stable version of GCam, which is for Pixel, but it is not installing. It is most likely a camera build issue, as most other devices also can't install it. Anyway, good luck to the dev, and I hope he builds it successfully.

So another question by some of you, when Android 11 stable build? I don't have any answer, but developers are trying to stabilise the device tree. As I have said in the past, it is almost the same as Android 10. Some apps may not be compatible with Android 11 for now too. So wait patiently, or if you eagerly want to use, there are two ways, use LineageOS 18 or build yourself and share it :/

By the way, for those who are bored, try the recently released ArrowOS unofficial build made by @blckbear99. Share the post to anyone who has a Pixel device and wanted to use a new ROM. I don't know if any dev would like to share the post in their support group or not, as it kind of considers off-topic. But doing this let them know other ROMs are existing for their Pixel. Anyway, it up to you, this is my suggestion only.

Some news from me, Yagya. You don't see me on the channel often, because usually P handles all that.

That aside, I'd like to announce that Nathan is busy working on Android 11 for the Pixel. He's continuing his work that he did on LineageOS and is planning on porting hentaiOS to the Pixel. That said, he's quite busy, so don't go messaging him. I'll share major updates here and minor updates in the chat.
