PSA: Android 11, TWRP & Magisk

This works both ways on Sailfish & Marlin

TWRP 3.5.1_9-0 as Recovery Ramdisk can now co-exist with Magisk! Yey!

The twrp-installer-3.5.1_9-0-marlin.zip is still unable to boot back to recovery after flashing. But as long as you flash twrp-3.5.1_9-0-marlin.img as Recovery Ramdisk, then you're okay.

Note: Download first twrp-3.5.1_9-0-marlin.img from twrp.me and save it to your preferred download location.

You need to boot TWRP from bootloader by typing "fastboot boot twrp.img". After TWRP loads up, go to "Advanced>Install TWRP Image as Recovery Ramdisk>Find twrp-3.5.1_9-0-marlin.img location>Install Recovery Ramdisk".

After that reboot back to recovery then flash Magisk-v22.0.apk & viola!

Surprisingly, this week we grew pretty much. Thank you guys! Content for this week’s post:

If you have been checking the channel, the PixelExperience post has been merged after the poll is created. At that time, most of you guys voted to merge the post. By the way, last week I announced the format, and indeed it is really weird. So I change the style and this should be better, future PixelExperience post will have this format:

Ok, so several people are having issues flashing PE 11 ROM build. Well, I created a guide to simplify all the process. Still, for some reasons, some still can't get it boot. Steps to flash PixelExperience 11 on Pixel/Pixel XL (fixed guide):

A. Boot PixelExperience Recovery
1. Download PE Recovery and save it on PC if you haven't already: Pixel | Pixel XL.
2. Boot your device into fastboot mode.
3, On your PC, use command fastboot flash boot filename.img.

B. Repartition device (learn more)
1. Download the correct zip file for your Pixel device: 32GB | 128GB
2. On the device, select “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB”, then on your PC, sideload the package using: adb sideload filename.zip
*TIP: If the process succeeds the output will stop at 47% and report adb: failed to read command: Success/No error.

C. Booting TWRP temporary
1. Download TWRP and save it on your PC if you haven't already: Pixel | Pixel XL
1. Boot your device to fastboot mode.
2. On your PC, use command fastboot boot filename.img
*TIP: If you saw it send 'boot.img' on the console output, select "Restart Bootloader" option on your device by using volume up/down button then confirm with power button, and perform the steps again.

D. Format Data/Factory Reset
1. Select "Wipe", then choose "Format Data".
2. Follow instructions on the screen, type 'yes' and press enter and it will start the process.
3. Later, return back to main menu.

E. Installing PixelExperience ROM
1. Download/Transfer PixelExperience ROM zip file to your device if you haven't already
2. On the device, select "Install", then find the ROM zip file.
3. Swipe to install and wait for the installation to finish, then reboot system (wiping dalvik & cache is optional).

Notes:
• This is a fixed guide which require to boot TWRP and flash PixelExperience with it (thanks to @Avroyin for telling that it work with this method)

This week less update, so making some story post regarding PixelExperience as we lack updates. Content for this week’s post:
• ROMs Update: PixelDust
• Updated: Guide to flash PE
• PixelExperience, why most people still use that?
• What other ROMs have the “Pixel Experience”?

This week the ROM that really gets an update is only PixelDust. Small announcement since there is nothing much to say. Post for all the details is here.

So the guide to flash PixelExperience has been updated to use TWRP to flash. Most people are having issues sideloading it, the updated guide should avoid such issue now. Thanks to @Avroyin for telling it. So, anyone of you can give it a try and see if it really works or not, I hope it does for you. Here the link for the updated guide, or you can check it anytime by checking @Pixel1Updates pinned post.

Talking about PixelExperience, most people here choose it rather than other ROM, just because it is like an extended support from the stock ROM (as promised from the ROM name itself and most people wanted that). Also, include minor customisations stuff with the Plus version. Of course, there could be other reasons, anyway it your choice.

So if we don’t have PixelExperience build, what ROMs can you use that have the “Pixel Experience”? Well, any ROMs that has Gapps included are the choices. We have ArrowOS by @blckbear99 & PixelDust by @spezi77, which is up to date. Well, these are the two ROMs that have Gapps. Other maintained ROMs would be LineageOS & exTHmUI, which are vanilla build. Flashing Gapps will do most of the job, though.

Ok, so not really an update post regarding Pixel 1 development actually. I just want to tell people that there are many ROMs existing out there. Try something new, maybe you will love it after you tried, who knows? Until you give it a try.

Unlike Google, we've decided to do an April Fools to joke you guys on 1 April. We hope you guys liked it. Anyway, content for this week's post:
• Test build announcement
• Test build: Fluid 1.3
• LineageOS 18.1 official for our device?

I feel dumb when I created a poll earlier to ask whether to post the test build in channel or group. And yeah, you guys want it to be posted in the channel, but sorry for the promise. Many test builds are being released in the group for the past few months, thanks to @blckbear99. I will write clearly with #Test & TEST BUILD next to the ROMs name if it is a test build, so read the post carefully before you go and flash it on your device.

Talking about test build, let talk about the first test build in the channel. It is Fluid 1.3 by @blckbear99. For Gapps service, flash either NikGapps or MindTheGapps. It is a test build, so any problem you faced, send logcat in the group. Download the ROM build from here.

So, LineageOS 18.1 officially released. Unfortunately, for people waiting for the Android 11 build, razorloves didn't plan to build it for our device now. He didn't also plan to build Android 11 official for Pixel 3 too. He may be busy with his life for now, so let wait and see. By the way, our device is still maintained on LineageOS 17.1, and the build will still be released as usual.

I may have forgotten more stuff rather than only test build. One day if there is not much stuff to announce, I will recall it back. Thanks for understanding. Or you guys can tell us what things we forget to do as we promise in the past, tell us in the group, thanks!

So apparently, things is getting bored nowadays. Content for this week's post:

• A rewind for the poll I created in this channel

Ehem, so PegagusOS for our Pixel. Not well known, but still, it is a ROM for bored people. The build is Android 11 and has stuff mostly from GrapheneOS. Download link for sailfish & marlin respectively.

So apparently, this week there are no more updates other than the top one. So, as promised, a rewind for the poll I created in this channel, and let see what we have done:
