LineageOS 19.1
Gerrit Review (2)
It's coming people, the upcoming LineageOS 19.1 is in the works, which is based on Android 12L (12.1). If I am not wrong, April 1?
First, I want to mention about Pixel devices that are eligible for the promotion to 19.1. Good news is that Pixel 2~5a will be getting it. meanwhile Pixel 1 will stick with 18.1 for another year time, and unlikely to get 19.1 anytime soon. For Pixel 6 series, there is no maintainers that applied for it, so it is what it is.
For now, a total of 34 devices are among the first to receive initial support of LineageOS 19.1 official. More devices will be supported as developers start working on it, better late than never.

Pixel 1 + LineageOS Tips
You guys might have probably noticed, there are only a few ROMs for our devices which receive regular updates, LineageOS, LineageOS microG and crDroid. Well, I could have just left the channel to continue posting updates as it used to be, but this is kind of boring, isn't it? Let's try something new this time.
LineageOS seems like a ROM with no changes in every update, partially true but not completely true. Although you don't really get to see what's being changed on the surface, a lot of improvements are done under the hood. Rarely sometimes, there are also some added features that people might not notice.
That's why I have created a readable changelog which normal users could easily understand in LineageOS official update post for our Pixel 1 & 2 channel, which is something that not every channel will do. I hope all users can know what's changed in the new update, then you decide whether to do the update or not.
As announced a few days ago, I will try to track down some of the useful commits in the LineageOS gerrit and report in this channel. Security patch update, new/remove features, system application version bump and device tree changes done to all Pixel devices will be posted. LineageOS 19.1 is also coming and I will be tracking that too.
Also, I planned to post weekly LineageOS facts, not sure how long this can last though. Yeah, I revealed a lot of stuff about LineageOS in the group before, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you want to deep dive even more, consider following the channel, and share it with more people around you.
The community name will remain the same, Pixel 1 ROMs update will continue to be posted on the channel as usual, what's changed is that we are posting LineageOS useful commit changes which are done to Google Pixel devices and tips about the ROM too. That's all for the announcement, let's make the Pixel community better.

We would like to announce the renaming our chat and channel name from Google Pixel 1/XL to Apple iPhone 7/7 Plus.
We figured out that since the Google Pixel 1 is having the same hardware issue as the Apple iPhone 7 (Audio IC fail), we might as well have an unified chat with iPhone devices.
Any device updates (like ROM's, kernels etc) for the iPhones will still be posted here just like the ones for Pixel 1.
I hope you understand the changes and we welcome you to our brand newPixel iPhone chat.
If you haven't noticed by now, this is an April Fools joke, we will go back to the old Pixel 1/XL name tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Steve Jobs

LineageOS Official Update for Google Pixel schedule
If you've been following this channel for awhile, it's no brainer that LineageOS official builds are distributed on a weekly basis. Yup, it's meant to be like that for every device, as it's auto built from the infrastructure.
Some people are wondering, why LineageOS listed all their official builds as "nightly" when it isn't a nightly update? Well, I don't know but download links available on their website are the stable release, so feel free to use it.
Basically all Pixel devices except Pixel 6 series are receiving official support from LineageOS. Aside Pixel & Pixel XL are receiving 18.1 update, rest of the Pixel devices are getting 19.1 update soon.
Anyway below is the list of when Pixel devices are receiving the LineageOS official update every week. Besides, you also get to learn all the Pixel codenames.
Fun fact:
• No Pixel devices are updated on a Monday or Friday
• Pixel 6 (oriole) & Pixel 6 Pro (raven) is yet to receive official support, meanwhile all other Pixel devices already do
Roster schedule
Pixel (sailfish): Saturday
Pixel XL (marlin): Wednesday
Pixel 2 (walleye): Tuesday
Pixel 2 XL (taimen): Thursday
Pixel 3 (blueline): Tuesday
Pixel 3 XL (crosshatch): Tuesday
Pixel 3a (sargo): Tuesday
Pixel 3a XL (bonito): Saturday
Pixel 4 (flame): Sunday
Pixel 4 XL (coral): Sunday
Pixel 4a (sunfish): Thursday
Pixel 4a 5G (bramble): Sunday
Pixel 5 (redfin): Wednesday
Pixel 5a (barbet): Thursday

Reasons why LineageOS is slow at releasing new Android version
It is pretty much easy to realise that LineageOS always took months to officially release a new Android version. You will be asking yourself, other ROMs can do it in a matter of days or weeks, but why not LineageOS? I have a few answers in my mind regarding this question.
1. Stability
LineageOS aims for stability, and it takes quite some time to refine everything. They also have to bring all their extra features and make sure it works perfectly without issue on any device.
2. Branches
The LineageOS project preceded CyanogenMod 5 years ago. and they are still maintaining branches all the way back to CM 11.0 (Android 4.4).You will probably wonder why they are still doing it. As the ROM itself is lightweight, it could run on any basically low-end devices, various developers still continue building unofficial builds for them, hence the reason why they are maintaining it instead of deprecating altogether like other ROMs.
3. Apps
Unlike other ROMs, LineageOS themselves come with a set of their own applications, and they are still not giving up updating them. They could just bring it directly without updating them, sure, but they want to make sure the experience fits with the current Android version you are in. This is definitely a tough job for sure, which rarely other ROMs do so.
4. Volunteer
Remember, you get it for free without doing anything, and LineageOS is a volunteer project, not an actual job. Developers maintain it when they have the time, and everyone's life isn’t easy these days.
I only just gave a brief explanation for each section, but I hope you could understand the behind the scenes of the ROM. These are just my thoughts, there are probably other reasons than the one mentioned above. Anyway, it will come when they are ready, better late than never.
