9To5Google
If you're unfamiliar with what is Google Voice, it a second phone number service by Google, available in United States for personal use, and available in several countries for Workspace organisations. Anyway, Google Voice for Android recently got an update which enable app shortcuts.
The "New call" shortcut let you make call to someone, which will open the app with the number pad ready, meanwhile "New message" shortcut let you start a conversation with someone, and it will let you search for the person you want to talk with. The last two options will show two of your most frequently contacted people, but just be aware that clicking on it will directly make a call to the person.

Google just fixed voice-dial emergency call bug on Android Automotive
9To5Google
Emergency call is important when there something around you or you yourself are facing difficult situations, though most people don't really need to use the service most of the time. Anyway recently Google found out that Android Automotive, which let you control features in your car with voice, has a bug which prevent the Assistant to dial emergency services, and they are rolling out a fix.
Using the button to make a emergency call is not an issue, but in some situations, if you can't access the screen, then that's where the voice command become the only savior. So Google just recently pushed an update for Google Assistant, version later than 12.0.92.RC13 should resolve the issue, it will automatically download for you over the next few days.
Google also highlighted that the Dialer app wasn't impacted, and "will continue to work regardless of your Assistant version." Anyway hope you guys stay safe all the time when driving.

Google Chat gains new bottom bar UI in conversations
Mishaal Rahman
Google Chat seems to be rolling out a new redesign bottom bar UI to some users, and the new UI is somewhat similar to Google Messages offering.
The old design shows all the shortcut options in the large text box, which are Photos, Camera, Drive, Meet link and Calendar invite. All these shortcuts are now being moved to a menu hidden under the "+" button on the left of the text box, with an addition of text format option in the menu too. Google also added in-app emoji, with Photos shortcut option showing right beside the Send button.
The changes is rolling out via server side on the app version 2021.10.31.408397499, not sure whether the Gmail app is receiving it or not, time will tell anyway.

As the year 2021 is ending soon, YouTube Music is preparing to celebrate your journey with the service.
As spotted by someone on Reddit, tap on your profile avatar, you might have a chance to see an option called "2021 Recap" in the menu. Tapping on it will bring you to a new page, showing the journey of you using the service throughout the year 2021.
It shows your top played song first and how many times do you played it frequently, and you can share out the song if you want to. Next it showed recently discovered song and artist. Lastly, your top played mix album and most watched video in the service are shown at the end.
Currently so far, only a few has received it, but as the end of the year is approaching, more people should be getting in the next few weeks time.

Google app is testing out bottom search bar for easier one-handed use
9To5Google
Nowadays phone screen are getting bigger and bigger, it a little tough to use the phone with just a single hand. Some applications are starting to switch design to make it easier for one-handed use, and apparently Google is experimenting with it recently.
When opening the Google app from launcher, you will first see the Google logo or Doodle on the top with the search bar, and below is the Discover feed and a bottom bar. The new design brings the search bar to the bottom, which makes the bottom bar looks a little cluttered. It is visible when first opening the app, but it will be hidden when scrolling up, and will reappear when scrolling the opposite way.
The changes is rolling out via server side, only a few has received it so far. Some might be wondering there a search option in the bottom bar and why still keep the search bar there? Well, Google Lens is one of the reason.

Google is expanding auto-reset permission feature to Android 6.0+ devices in 2022
XDA Developers
You are probably familiar with this announcement, because Google announced it a few months ago. Previously they said they will start rolling out the feature starting December 2021, however they postponed it by a month time to January 2022.
Apps targeting Android 11 (API 30) and higher will have the auto-reset permission feature enabled by default. Google Play guideline also has made sure every app must be targeting at least Android 11 after November 2021, so in theory app that you installed from Play Store will have it enabled by default.
Apps that are not used for a few months will have permissions revoked. If you wish to ask your user to disable the auto-reset permission, you will need to use this API which is part of the Jetpack Core library:
