Android Automotive 12 includes interface improvements, no 32-bit support, and much more
XDA Developers
Android Automotive 12 has been released back in October 4th, but almost no media has covered about it as Google is quiet at releasing it, probably because it won't arrive on any cars soon. This is first pointed out by Mishaal Rahman.
Here are some of the upgrade that Android Automotive 12 will get:
• Better UI navigation support for knobs that support four-way nudges
• Reference SMS app
• Heads-up notifications can be prioritized
• New launcher
• Mic indicator
• Two-column Settings app on wide screens
• Better Bluetooth reconnects
It also set to run on 64-bits only, which makes it the first official Android release to completely drop support for 32-bits.

Currently, there a flag called
ENABLE_ONE_SEARCH in Pixel Launcher, which let you merge both search bar into one universal device search bar. This is definitely a welcome addition as users won't need to open their app drawer and reach to the top to access it.#Android #A12L

You can hide and unhide Android 12L's taskbar by just long pressing
Mishaal Rahman
Android 12L has added a nifty taskbar on large screen devices, users can switch apps much faster and have better productivity.
Sometimes, you don't like or preferred to not have Android 12L's taskbar appearing in your view when you are using some apps, you can hide the taskbar by long pressing the blank part of the taskbar, unhide it anytime by long pressing the navigation bar. A pretty simple action and nice feature.

App Pairs will now show both icons side-by-side in the recents overview
Mishaal Rahman
On Android 12 or earlier, opening split screen mode will pin one app to the top, and exiting it will only drag out one app from the screen view. This behaviour is changing in Android 12L.
When you are exiting pairing mode (previously split screen mode) on Android 12L, both apps will be dragged out of your screen view and shown in the recents overview, with the app icons showing side-by-side. By the way, resizing the app windows will no longer show live preview anymore on Android 12L.
Also double tapping on the white divider can switch the app windows position while pairing. For now, the option to create app pair isn't live yet, but it could soon make it appearance in future beta build. (h/t 9To5Google)

Exiting app with back gesture/button added home screen animation
Esper Blog by Mishaal Rahman
On Android 12 or earlier, you will only see animations of the app exiting using the home gesture navigation. Android 12L has changed this part.
On Android 12L Beta 1, when using the back action to exit the app, you can now see animation of it gracefully returning back to its position on the home screen.
Though this is Android 12L Developer Preview 1, the feature is there in the Beta 1 build. It also nice if you can give a read to that blog too, which let you know more what Android 12L will do.

Android 12L's specific app widget sheet menu no longer limit in height
9To5Google
On Android 12, you might have noticed that the widget sheet menu can't expand all the way to the top when you open it via long pressing app icon, then the context menu.
In Android 12L, using the same method to access specific app widget sheet menu will cover the whole home screen if there is quite an amount of widgets available and require scrolling to view all of them.

Android 12L has a new 'Weather' grouping in Widgets list
9To5Google
Google has rolled out Material You weather widgets in their main app for awhile on Android 12. Apparently Google is making a separate grouping for it on Android 12L.
When you open up the Widgets list, scrolling all the way to the bottom and you will there a new separate grouping named "Weather." Google didn't create a separate Weathers app, it just a new grouping in the Widgets list which the widgets essentially do the same job as the one listed under the Google app.

'Clear all' is now a button in Android 12L with Material You design element added
9To5Google
The "Clear all" option has exist on Android for years, it will clear all background processes after you tap on it. Since Android 9, the recents overview has got a redesign and the "Clear all" option has shifted all the way to the left side.
On Android 12L, the Android 9-like recents overview design is still being used, but the "Clear all" now has been redesigned into a button. It has rounded pill shape around it which is part of the Material You design.

Wallpaper & Style got some minor changes in Android 12L
9To5Google
There are some minor changes in the Wallpapers & Style app, but basically it just the auto-daily wallpapers icon has been changed and the top bar has added dynamic color support in the wallpaper collection. Functionality remains the same, that's pretty much it.

YouTube desktop web new layout continue to improve, and here's how it looks like today
YouTube has been testing a new type of denoscription layout for a while now, and here's how it looks like currently.
The video noscript is now using YouTube Sans, which has been used across the YouTube mobile app (the font is actually bold instead of thin). Video chapters are now shown at the bottom of the denoscription, it only shows when you expand the denoscription. You still can use the classic way to access video chapters.
Tapping on the comments box below will bring all the comments to the right side of the video. This means you can watch the video and type out your comments at the same time. You can restore the behaviour by tapping the "X" button on the top right corner.
Also the toolbar option letters are no longer displaying in all capital letters form. By the way, YouTube has removed public dislike count, with the API to be fully removed on December 13.

Pixel 6 December update scheduled to release on December 13

Google delayed the December update with Feature Drop for Pixel 6 devices, weird. Anyway it is expected to arrive one week later than other Pixel devices.
Mishaal Rahman spotted that Google Japan has reported the update will be going live on December 13 for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
*By the way, have saw this on Reddit when Pixel 6 is reported to receive late update, Canada carrier Fido already confirmed that the Pixel 6 will be receiving the update on December 13 too. With Google staff confirming it, no doubt it will be shipping on that date.

Pixel Launcher's app suggestions change with animation
Android 12L has added a lot of animations in several places, like opening the Internet and QS tiles for example, making the experience of using it feel smooth.
Another added animation in Android 12L is the app suggestions. The suggestions will change with animations going upwards. Yet another nice addition making the OS much more smooth and natural to use. Nice job, Google!

Gmail fixes annoying ‘undo’ button bug on Android 12
9To5Google
I don't think many people know about this bug, but anyway, Gmail is recently rolling out an update to fix the "undo" button bug in the notification.
If you frequently used Gmail quick action to archive (or delete) mail, then you will notice the notification will appear for a few seconds with an "undo" button to revert your action. On Android 12, the feature has been broken for a while actually, users have to minimise the notification in order to get to see the "undo" button.
On Gmail app version 2021.11.14, the bug has been resolved, with the "Undo" button now appearing properly when the notification is expanded.
