Android 13 Developer Preview 1 for Pixel 6 included virtual machine framework
kdrag0n
Interestingly, Google included a new virtualization framework and KVM hypervisor in the developer preview build of Android 13 for the Pixel 6. This means you can run Windows 11 on Pixel 6 with the native performance, nearly no compromise in speed you can say.

Android 13 DP1 has showcased possible Pixel Notepad design
ROM Screenshot
Came around those screenshots from an Android 13 port with a popup on how to use the new taskbar on a foldable device. Could this be the Pixel Fold/Notepad? The foldable device matches this image which has been removed and replaced with a more generic device in 12L.

YouTube PiP on iOS is no more
zollotech
Happy Valentine's day! For this special occasion Google has decided to end the beta feature of Picture-in-picture on the iOS app for YouTube for no apparent reason! Hope you enjoy this little gift from our favorite company!
On a serious note though, people in the comment section have showed proof of Google constantly delaying this feature's expiry date, let's hope they're doing that again.
*Fun fact: It's YouTube 17th birthday, the service is first founded back in Feb 14, 2005 and meant to be a dating site at first, but a few years later they ditch the idea and made it as a video sharing platform that we all know today.

Samsung has made Google Messages the default messaging application in the US
9To5Google
The Android default messaging experience is pretty much a mess till now, as there isn't really a universal & free messaging solution, but it could be changing soon.
Samsung has take a step forward to make Google Messages the default messaging application on their Galaxy S22 series unit sold in the US, in order to boost the usage of RCS messaging service. As Samsung being one of the biggest Android OEM company out there, other OEM companies could possibly follow suit and make Google Messages as the default messaging application in their upcoming phones too.
For those who still prefer using Samsung Messaging app, it still come installed with the phone but users will need to manually switch over to it.

Downloading apps from Play Store will now show installation progress on the home screen
Apparently Google has rolled out the ability to view application installation progress on the home screen now.
When an app installation is currently in progress and coming from the Play Store, you will see the app that you are downloading with a circular progress bar and "Downloading..." noscript on the home screen. Tapping on it will bring you the Play Store listing. After finish downloading it, it will switch the noscript to "Installing..." and later show the complete app icon and display it in the app drawer. When there is more than one app ready to be download, it will show "Pending" with the app icon on the home screen.
It has widely rollout since a few days ago, and the feature is making its appearance on older Android version too, at least I can confirmed it is appearing on Android 10 with launchers based on Launcher3.

Google to make Fast Pair more accessible to OEMs with Android 13
Esper Blog
Google Fast Pair Service allowed users to quickly pair new Bluetooth devices by using Bluetooth Low Energy. Users will get a popup window to instantly setup the device and it will be synced across your devices with the same Google account. Apparently, Google had wanted to bring the experience over to all devices running Android 13.
Mishaal Rahman spotted that a code change shows NearbyManager system API is being added, and another submitted commit change shows that Google wants to make the feature available with a Mainline module in Android 13. Based on what's written in the commit denoscription, this means OEM which doesn't ship GMS in their devices will be able to support Fast Pair technology in their accessories.
Besides, Rahman also spotted that inside the Mainline module, there is “com.android.nearby” APEX module which contains NearbyManager, Fast Pair APIs and the app that manage the dialog for pairing devices. It is unclear whether this new implementation is being used or not.

Google Pixel to support streaming Android apps on PC
9To5Google
It will soon be possible to stream Android apps on your desktop, as long as you have a browser.
Once connected successfully, you can interact with the app "natively" on the virtual display, You can see your current notifications feed in the right panel. At the top-right corner, there are options to send feedback, close the app, use back action and resize the display, meanwhile you can access your installed applications on your device in the bottom-left corner.
On Chrome OS, there isn't the need to use the web app as it is integrated with the Phone Hub already. Clicking on notifications from Phone Hub open it up in the virtual display, and you will also get a list of recent apps that you just opened. For now, it still currently lacked a lot of features that the web app has offered.
Anyway, hope to see Google publicly announcing the feature to everyone one day, so we can do everything right from the desktop.
