Hey there, thanks for supporting us if you still do. It's been a while since we last posted Google related news on this channel. It's not us being lazy, but we are busy :(
Some might probably know, writing content on this channel isn't our main job, and we also have a lot of stuff to do in real life. On my side, stuff are starting to resume and I have less free time than usual like in the past few months. Also I myself haven't read a lot of articles either.
We will still try our best to post some important news over here if we can, like new Android beta version and new Android features, normal maintenance will only be back around mid-May.
That's all from us, take care.

Google Pixel 6 declines phone calls and changed ringtones & alarm sounds for no reason
r/GooglePixel (2)
Six months since the Pixel 6 was released, it is still buggy as usual. I highly suspect Google is doing this on purpose in order to enter headlines and promote Pixel devices to even more audiences. What a great strategy Google.
Anyway, let's discuss the recent new bugs with the April update for Pixel devices. Phone call is one of the core features of phones and Google literally messed it up. Multiple Pixel 6 owners reported they didn't get notified about phone calls, despite having Flip to shh and Do not disturb disabled.
Besides, other Pixel device owners who have recently updated noticing their alarm and ringtone sound changed. Some users also reported their own imported sounds disappeared too. What users can do now is to switch it back manually and hopefully Google could fix it with the next update, else it might recur again.

Pixel 6a won't have Motion Mode, launching in more countries
MySmartPrice | Kamila Wojciechowska
We knew the next upcoming phone by Google is the mid-range Pixel 6a, and here are some rumors about the phone.
In the Pixel Tips app, Kamila Wojciechowska found out the page about Motion Mode is only made available for devices with PIXEL_2021_EXPERIENCE, which the Pixel 6 series do. However, "bluejay" is excluded, which is the rumored Pixel 6a codename, and that likely means the feature won't made its way to the upcoming Google phone.
Pixel 6a is set to come with the good ol' 12MP sensors like older Pixel devices do, while Pixel 6 series have the new 50MP main rear lens, hence the reason why Google probably didn't include the feature.
Pixel 5a only made its way to Japan and US, and Google didn't expand the availability to any more countries. For Pixel 6a, it might not be the case this time and Google might launch it in more countries.
There are four models being found in FCC listings, which are all related to the Pixel 6a:

Google Lens on desktop allows users to translate and copy text
Google Lens can help users search for images without having to manually type. It has been a while since it made its way to the Chrome desktop platform, and recently it has got some neat update.
When right-clicking on an image, click on "Search images with Google Lens" will first open a sidebar and show you the results. This is great for those who just want to do stuff quick like copying a few texts for example.
Yeah, you heard it right. The desktop version of Google Lens can finally copy text and also translate it. Previously, it could only find similar images on the web. After selecting text, you will get search results and also shortcuts to copy, listen, translate and open it in Google Search.
For translate, you get the complete results on the right panel and on the image itself. There are also shortcuts on the right panel to let you copy all the texts and open it in Google Translate with one click.

Nearby Share will let you share seamlessly across your own devices
Mishaal Rahman
Nearby Share is a great tool to share stuff from one device to another wirelessly without Internet connection, and Google is planning to make the process easier for your own devices, making it a true AirDrop competitor.
On the Nearby Share page, there is a new option called "Your devices," which will allow users to seamlessly share files between devices that have the same Google account logged in. The Hidden option is replaced with a toggle on top to enable and disable the feature.
Mishaal Rahman spotted that the feature is currently hidden in the latest Google Play Services. I personally think that Google would be introducing it during June with the seasonal Android feature drop.
Google is really upping their game so that Android users can enjoy something that only Apple ecosystem used to have. Thumbs up for Google over here. Now it's users turns to be aware of the feature and use it.

Google Store redesign hints at Pixel Watch arrival
9to5Google
Recently, the Google Store has got a redesign which is much cleaner and attractive. When first entering, you'll see the top bar has some changes, pressing on it will bring you directly to the page instead of opening a big overlay menu.
Interestingly, the top bar arrangement has Watches right behind Phones (which is obviously Pixel phones), likely hinting Google will be releasing a new watch, and that could be the long rumored Pixel Watch. Evan Blass also has tweeted out that Pixel Watch will be coming very soon a week ago, suggesting Pixel Watch will make its appearance during Google I/O.
The redesign web store is already available in US, UK, Germany, and Japan regions.

Android 13 could show proper privacy indicator for location, merge Security & Privacy settings page
Mishaal Rahman (2)
When an application or service is obtaining the device's location, we will be notified with a location icon on the status bar, but that could change with Android 13.
Earlier we saw Android 13 prepared a new quick settings tile called Privacy Control, which gives you control to enable/disable microphone, camera and location. Soon Google will emphasise the use of location service with the privacy indicator. Besides, Google will be merging the Security and Privacy settings into a single, but for now it isn't fully functioning.
There are actually ton of hidden new stuff added in Android 13, and Mishaal Rahman has discovered ton of new stuff despite Android 13 beta isn't released yet, check out the full list over here.

Switch to Android launched on App Store, switching made easy
9To5Google | TechCrunch | App Store
After using iOS for a long time, and you had liked to make the switch over to Android, Google has made the process easy with the new Switch to Android iOS app.
You could transfer all your data wireless with a Google account, as Google will use Drive to store all your information and later fetch it back onto your new Android device. The transferred information includes Contacts, Calendar, Photos and videos and text messages. Media stored on your iCloud can also make its way to Drive if you want.
The app has just gone official and Google is slowly making the app publicly available for more users on the App Store. Google hasn't made the Android side to support the Switch to Android process just yet though.

Google Search desktop site tests moving categories to the left side of search results
9to5Google
Google has been playing around with design on their Search website and there's a new one spotted recently which looks interesting.
This particular change isn't widely rolled out, but we can see that the categories option has been shifted to the left side. In the column, we could see four additional options while pressing on "More" will expand the options. Following this change, the number of search results with time it took to fetch those results are appearing under the search bar directly.
Earlier we also saw Google experimenting putting the categories option at the right side of the search bar, which is pretty awful in my opinion, and this newly spotted change is acceptable.

Share tab in Files by Google is returning for Pixel devices
9to5Google
If you have installed the file manager app by Google on your other Android devices except Pixel, when opening it, you will see it has a bottom bar with three options, Clean, Browse and Share respectively.
Since Pixel devices received Android 11 update, the default file manager has been replaced with Files by Google app and awkwardly, the Share tab isn't present on the bottom bar. With a recent update, Google is bringing back the bottom bar option. Before that, Pixel users could access the option from the navigation drawer within the app.
The page is just the same as on other Android devices, nothing changed, it is appearing for Pixel owners who have the app version 1.0.440568297 installed.

Google Pixel Watch render leak shows it will have a curved design
91mobiles
The long awaited Google Pixel Watch will be launching very soon as Google redesigned their store page and leaks about the watch are starting to appear. This time, we got a clearer look of the watch face.
From the image, we could see there's a rotating crown on the side of the watch, and there will be a very curved design, which the screen will extend all the way till the edge. Besides, the screen shows the date and time on the top, followed by steps counter, a Fitbit logo and heart rate tracker.
It's likely that the watch will be launched alongside the Pixel 6a at the Google I/O event which is holding on May 10 & 11, anyway time will tell.

YouTube Shorts gains new creation tool, expanding experience over on web
YouTube Support Community
Short-form video content has been the mainstream for the past few years and YouTube is following up with the trend.
The Shorts experience has already been made available for a while on most platforms, and soon you'll be able to see Shorts shelf surfacing on the homepage on the web, just like the mobile app.
"Cut" will let creators use one to five seconds segments of video. When posted, the original video will be linked. Creators can opt out of the feature if they don't want their videos to be used by other creators. iOS devices will receive it in the coming weeks while Android will get it later this year.
Besides, there will be more options available in the menu to let you use the sound, save to playlist and stop recommending the same sound used in other videos. The Shorts player page will also soon show quick shortcuts to open your notifications page, search videos and open the account picker menu.
