Pixel Watch specs revealed, gets Bluetooth certification and more
r/GooglePixel

Bluetooth certification for an upcoming device, likely means that the device is ready for public launch soon. There are three models of Pixel Watch which have got their Bluetooth certification, those model numbers are GWT9R, GBZ4S, and GQF4C.

Besides, there are more specifications of the watch being leaked too. The health sensor used is identical to the one on Fitbit Charge 5. The device itself appeared to be 30mm wide and 14mm in thickness, with a weight of 36g. It might come with a 300mAh battery, also offering cellular connectivity.

If you felt bored and curious to look at someone wearing the watch, here you go. With tons of rumors reporting about the Pixel Watch, it's likely to launch on Google I/O as we mentioned several times earlier. With all these specifications, this watch won't be cheap in my opinion.

Privacy Sandbox arrived for Android to protect your online privacy
Android Developers

Online advertisements these days are creepy as they track our interests and show us relevant ads to it. Google would like to resolve such issues by implementing Privacy Sandbox, first available on Chrome for all platforms, and now Android itself is receiving such a feature too.

These are separate release builds and are based on Android 13. These builds include exclusive platform APIs and services which didn't make its way to the recent beta release. For your information, there's no fresh new features in those builds.

It is available for download and use on Pixel 4 & later Pixel devices. You could also install it with Android Emulator if you wanted to test the feature out for your applications.

Google's parent company Alphabet has reported a total of $68.01 billion in revenue from this January to March. Search continues to be the most successful product, earning a whopping $39.6 billion. Next on the list is YouTube ad, earning $6.87 billion. Google's other revenues included their hardware sales and Play Store income, generating $6.81 billion of earnings.

Since YouTube Shorts launched in 2020, there isn't any advertisement content inserted over there, hence creators have been only to generate income with YouTube Shorts Fund. During the call, it is being heard that YouTube is testing advertisements on Shorts.

"While it’s still early days, we’re encouraged by initial advertiser feedback and results," said Philipp Schindler. Besides, he also mentioned the platform managed to gain over 30 billion views every single day. For now, ads are appearing in the mobile apps, but eventually it will arrive on more platforms soon.

Nearby Share can now show in Direct Share section of the share menu
Nearby Share is another Android component that Google has been improving a lot to match AirDrop functionality. When we want to share files with Nearby Share, we usually use the Android share menu to do so, and Google is further improving it to save your time.

Devices that you have recently shared with might appear in Direct Share, located at the upper part of the share menu. This can save you a click from having to select the device again when you are prompt with the Nearby Share menu.

On this holy festive, wishing you a day filled with lots of laughter and happy moments.

Happy Eid-ul-Fitr, one full of blessings and bliss, bounty and beauty, for all of you and your families.

This morning, perhaps as you leave for Eid prayer, check on the people around you. They might be family, friends or neighbors. Are they happy and content? Do they have ma'amoul, do they have fresh new clothes? Are they in need? If that is the case, don't forget them ... you never know, you might make their Eid!

The reward of seeing someone happy and excited, of hearing a mother's heartfelt, thankful prayer (dua'), and of knowing that you were the cause, you were chosen by God for this, is immense and second to none.

Other: This is the last security patch for the Pixel 3a/XL phones. Correction Along other fixes, the Android Security Bulletin mentioned a dirty pipe fix, any device with the May Security Patch will be safe from that exploit. Follow @PixelHubUpdates
CORRECTION:
A Google representative told 9To5Google:

In May 2019 at the launch of the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, we announced that the devices would receive three years of software updates and three years of security updates from when our devices first became available on the Google Store. The final update for Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will rollout to users by July 2022.

As the device is not elegible for the Android 12 QPR3 beta, you could expect an update in July with just the June and July security patches just like Pixel 3 users did get 4 months of security patches at once.

Google Pixel Buds Pro under development, coming in four colors variant
Jon Prosser

There's not much discussion about the Google Pixel Buds as most have shifted their focus to the upcoming Pixel 6a and the long awaited Pixel Watch. Anyway, Jon Prosser has received the information that Google Pixel Buds Pro will be the next earbuds from Google.

As the name suggests, this will be a better version of the original Pixel Buds. Besides, Prosser mentioned it will be coming in four color variants, Real Red, Carbon, Limoncello and Fog respectively.

That's pretty much it. He didn't confirm that it will be launching in I/O 2022, and there isn't a lot of information about the upcoming earbuds, so it is likely to be launch alongside with the Pixel 7.

YouTube Go will be forgotten, sunsetting on August 2022
YouTube Community

YouTube Go is a lightweight application made to run on low-end devices. It was launched back in 2016, but recently it has not received any more updates, and Google has decided to shut down the service around August.

This particular app pretty much does the job you had expected, streaming video. It also has a data-saving feature to help save cost for your cellular data. You can also download videos and watch them later.

If you want to find an updated lightweight YouTube client application with all these features, NewPipe will do the job. Otherwise, you can just follow YouTube's advice and install their official app or use the web version to continue watching videos from various creators.
