Bug found in Android lets you unlock someone's device with just a SIM card
Source
A recently disclosed vulnerability gives any attacker with physical access to your Android device the ability to unlock it.
Most devices running Android 10 to Android 13 were affected with this bug whether they are running OneUI, MIUI or even Pixel's stock OS. Custom ROMs are also affected by it.
The attacker only needs a SIM card with the PIN and PUK code to run this exploit. PUK (Personal Unlocking Key) is an 8-digit code unique to your SIM card. It is used to unlock your mobile and reset your SIM PIN.
The vulnerability is tracked with CVE-2022-20465 with patches for this issue being now available for AOSP 10-13.
The security researcher reported this bug to Android’s Vulnerability Rewards Program in the middle of this year, but Google did not move on the issue until September after some in-person prompting. It resulted in a $70,000 reward and is listed in the November security patch under a “System” issue with “High” severity.

Material You color theming is coming to ChromeOS
Reddit
A recent ChromeOS Canary update has added an internal flag for dynamic theming which themes SystemUI elements, just like on Android 12 or newer.
The design is not final with placeholder elements and other quirks, but it's a nice preview of what will come in the future.
They have been working on it for quite a while, with first information about it being discovered back in January.

#Files
Files by Google added native PDF viewer
From an Android Go application till a file management app that is now installed across billion of Android devices, Google's Files app has been adding more features over time. Recently, they issued an update which added support to view PDF inside the app itself.
For now, it's a very simple PDF viewer. You can scroll up and down or press the button to navigate across pages. On the top you can see the PDF file name, followed by a back button on the left side, with the page number being shown on the right side.
This seems to be currently under A/B testing, and currently the viewer doesn't support lossless quality zoom-in, so there are still some works to be done from the search giant side.
