Privacy Sandbox beta comes to eligible devices
Google Blog
Google has announced the beta release of their Privacy Sandbox to a small percentage of Android 13 devices that will expand over time. You'll receive a notification letting you know if your device is selected.
Privacy Sandbox is built on a secure, private, and sandboxed platform that is designed to keep user data secure while still allowing developers to access it. Users get control over the data they share and the ability to opt out of data sharing if they choose.
With the Privacy Sandbox, developers get a secure and privacy-preserving environment to work in, as well as access to high-quality data that can be used to power their apps. They also get APIs that are designed with privacy and don't use identifiers that can track your activity across apps and websites. App can use these APIs to show you relevant ads and measure their effectiveness.

Google Pixel 6 & 7 are now supported by LineageOS
The Pixel 7 series is around four months old since released to the public and custom ROMs community are already gearing up to support the newly released devices. LineageOS, being one of the largest custom ROM communities, has officially supported both Pixel 6 & 7 series starting today.
Those devices include: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 & Pixel 7 Pro. Builds for Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 are now available at the time of posting. Rest of the devices will get it in the next few days. Approximately one month ago, the Pixel 2 series was also promoted to LIneageOS 20 too. And if you feel like installing it, do make sure to check out the respective wiki for your own device to get it running properly.
In case you haven't realised, this is the only custom ROM to currently maintain the complete Pixel series at the same time, which is a whopping of all 19 Pixel devices released till date. Kudos to the team over here.

Google announced a variant of GMS for India to comply with local laws
Source
OEMs that wish to release smartphones in India have two options:
• Mobile Application Distribution Agreement (MADA) where they release the same device as worldwide
• IMADA (Indian MADA) where they release a device only in India
MADA requires eleven Google apps (Search, Chrome, Gmail, Photos, etc.) while IMADA requires only the Google Play Store, and any core services necessary for apps using Google APIs to function correctly, with OEMs deciding the rest.
IMADA does not require OEMs to include a Google search bar, Google folder, or Play Store icon on the main screen, unlike MADA. Like the European MADA, devices under IMADA with the Google Search app will require a default search engine selection prompt during setup starting Q2 2023.
Google also introduced the ‘Indian Placement Agreement’, offering a bounty for OEMs that include any of the eleven core apps and icons on the main screen.

Fall Detection is finally coming to Pixel Watch
Google Blog
Starting today, Pixel Watch users will receive the long awaited fall detection feature. It uses a combination of sensors and machine learning to detect when a user has fallen.
If the watch detects a fall, after 30 seconds it will vibrate, sound an alarm and display a notification asking if the user needs assistance.
If the user doesn't respond after a minute, the watch will automatically contact their emergency contacts and operators with their location information, and you'll be able to talk to the operator.
You can turn the feature on in the ‘Updates’ page on the Watch Companion app or directly on the Pixel Watch in the Personal Safety app.
The feature is supported in Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States and if you travel to an unsupported region it will be unavailable.

Fast Pair coming "soon" to ChromeOS
Google Blog
After being announced over a year ago, Google has now showed how the feature will look on Chromebooks.
You'll be able to pair Fast Pair-enabled Bluetooth headphones with one tap, and if you had set up the device with your Android phone, your Chromebook will automatically connect to them.
It's not clear exactly when the feature will come, and what devices will support it, but we know that all new Chromebooks starting in 2023 will receive it.
