Fixed issues:
• Fixed an issue that caused the status bar to display with the wrong color while making a phone call on devices with display cutouts.
• Fixed system issues that sometimes caused devices to crash and reboot.
• Fixed an issue that caused empty message bubbles to display in some cases.
• When your app requests visual media permissions, if the user grants partial access to their visual media library (Photos/Videos) then later denies this access, your app no longer freezes, flickers, or stops asking for the permission.
• If your app uses a custom visual media picker and the user chooses to grant partial access to their visual media library, your app's picker now immediately shows the items that the user selected.
Known issues:
• An issue with the Credential Manager platform APIs causes instability in apps that use them. A fix is available in the latest preview version of the Android 14 SDK, which developers can install using Android Studio. Developers who previously installed a preview version of the Android 14 SDK should completely uninstall the previous version and then reinstall the SDK to apply the fix.
• After entering and exiting picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, an issue with the system UI causes the screen to flicker when any apps are launched.
• An issue with the system UI sometimes causes the screen to flicker when a video is playing in picture-in-picture mode.
• In some cases, video continues playing in the background even after closing an app if the video was playing in picture-in-picture mode when it was closed.
• A video that is playing in picture-in-picture mode stops playing abruptly if the back gesture is used within the PiP settings screens.
• When using a device with a work profile, the Google Play Store app in the work profile hangs or crashes when launched.
• A blank screen displays after selecting the "Message" option for a recent caller in the Google Phone app.
• After taking pictures with the Google Camera app, opening the latest picture from the thumbnail in the app briefly displays a green-colored shade over the image.
• An issue with Android Studio causes a SecurityException to be thrown when attempting to run your app or apply incremental changes any time other than the first time. To work around this issue, fully uninstall your app and then reinstall it on the test device before running your app again. A fix for this issue is in included in Android Studio Giraffe | 2022.3.1 Canary 4 or higher.
• User restrictions set by DPC admins are not being enforced in Settings.

Navigation bars can now be clear
Mishaal Rahman
Mishaal Rahman has discovered an option in the latest Android 14 Beta. The option lets you change the navigation bar background from black, to clear. It works for both gestures and buttons.
The toggle for the setting is located in the developer options, but it's unsure if it'll be in the final Android 14 release.

Wallpaper & style crash fix on Android 14 Beta 1
9To5Google
Some people have noticed that the Wallpaper & styles app crashes on the latest Android 14 beta. Turns out that it's because of the Themed Icons being enabled. Fortunately the people at 9To5Google have figured a temporary bypass for this issue.
You can fix the crash by wiping Pixel Launcher's cache, as that resets the settings of the launcher to the defaults. Beware that your homescreen will be reseted, and you'll need to set it up again.
Otherwise, you could wait for Google to release a proper fix for this issue.

More preparation for Android 14's custom lock screen clocks
9To5Google
As previously leaked, Google is planning to add more features for customizing the lock screen. We've seen the Clock settings section in Wallpapers & styles earlier, but it was not functioning.
The 9To5Google team has managed to enable the customizable clocks feature, and so far the settings can let you:
- change the clock color from Material You to a custom one, with a brightness slider
- change the clock size from dynamic to small
There's not much yet as you can see, but it's fair to assume that Google will add more to the settings in the future as it's currently in the works.

Now Playing prepares “Summary” tab
9To5Google
You may have been to many places and heard many different songs, if you have a Pixel with Now Playing feature enabled, chances are you will find your history list to be long over time. Anyway, Google will be making use of this list to sum up everything where you can check all your statistics in a glance.
You can check which songs, artists, and at which timeframe you frequently hear. Besides, there is also a 30-days summary where you get to know which genre of music you listen to the most. Tapping on the song name popup a list for you to share and favorite it, and tapping on the artist name will search for all the songs that Now Playing has recognised from that artist.
As usual, everything is done locally on the device, so nothing is sent over to Google to process. This feature hasn't rolled out to any users yet, and was spotted in the Android 14 Beta 1 build. but It could probably debut as early as the next Feature Drop.
