The Fitbit app has been redesigned, coming this fall
Google Blog

Google is releasing a refreshed Fitbit app with the Material You design language this fall.

The app has three tabs:
"Today": This tab shows your health and fitness stats. The "your focus" section will display four statistics that can be customized with presets like "Get more active," "Reduce stress," "Sleep better," or "Improve heart health." Visualize your progress with improved charts, graphics, and icons that show your health trends.

"Coach": The Coach tab shows workouts and mindfulness sessions. Some are available to free users, with more for Fitbit Premium subscribers. You can also filter the classes by duration and required equipment.

"You": In here, users can change their settings, like daily step goals, bedtime, and active zone minutes. It also shows the redesigned achievement badges to celebrate milestones. There's also a Community section for your Feed, Friends and Groups.

Chrome 116 is receiving one time permissions, like Android
Chrome Developer Blog

In the latest Chrome beta, you'll be able to give a website your location, camera or microphone access for one visit, instead of giving access to it all the time.

The one time permission will expire after:
- you close the tab, navigate it away or discard it
- 16 hours have passed
- you manually revoke the permission
- the page has been in the background (unless it's allowed to run in the background, like with the camera or mic)

You will also notice a tab strip indicator to let you know what tab has access to your camera/microphone in the background.

To enable this, open chrome://flags/#one-time-permission and select enable.

Pixel Watch 2 leaks: New chip, UWB, and more
Android Authority

Kamila Wojciechowska has revealed more details about the upcoming Pixel Watch 2, besides the brand new watch faces.

Pixel Watch 2 will be powered by a four-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 with a custom NXP-based coprocessor, with better GPU performance and power efficiency.

It will feature a NXP SR100T UWB module which could be used for device location, unlocking cars with a digital key, or seamless music playback.

Besides that, the Pixel Watch 2 has a slightly bigger 306mAh battery. The display remains a 1.2-inch 384x384 round OLED, but the switch to Samsung Display may bring improved brightness or new energy-saving features.

Pixel Watch 2 ships with Wear OS 4 based on Android 13 with Seamless Updates.

It may be released in more regions with a recent entry for India's BIS regulatory body suggesting a launch in India.

The animation attached to this post will be shown on demo units.

Seamless integrations for calls & media across Android devices
Mishaal Rahman (2)

The Android platform is about to get better with some upcoming features which will allow you to use different devices seamlessly.

Soon you will be able to transfer calls and also share Internet connection across all of your devices. This setting will be located under Settings > Google > Devices & sharing once rolled out. Basically, all of these devices have to be signed to the same Google account in order to make use of the features under "Linked devices."

Besides that, one would be able to cast to a Pixel Tablet that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, just hold your phone near to it and you will be prompted with an introductory screen to enable the feature.

eSIM transfer to be made easy with Android
AssembleDebug

Your phone connects to your mobile carrier using a SIM card, and as time progressed, its size decreased until it couldn't be shrunken even more. Because of that, the eSIM was created, but the process of linking and transferring was such a mess that Google is working on a solution.

Transferring your eSIM to another Android device will be as simple as scanning a QR code (assuming your old device is still working). The feature is still in its early development stage, as currently it's not usable yet with not much information being revealed yet, but it's a good sign to see that using an eSIM will be a less of a struggle.
