Dual pane notifications panel, Settings, and lockscreen on Android 12.1
When you see dual pane design on Android, it most likely it a big screen device which are meant for tablet or foldable devices.

Here we can see that the notification panel has some of biggest changes we ever seen. With the quick settings on the left and notifications center on the right. XDA also reported that it could show 3 column Quick Settings panel when the screen density exceeds a certain value. For the settings, it largely the same design with most tablet nowadays.

The lock screen also has a big redesign too. With the clock and date on the left and notifications on the right. The lock icon is centered and also much bigger. The icon currently isn't really visible, hope Google will fix this before it released to stable channel. You can also shift the PIN/password keypad to one of the side for easier unlock with one hand. Here how Android 12.1 taskbar works
For a tablet or foldable to be more capable of multi-tasking, taskbar is one of the core feature, and Android 12.1 introduce it.

With the taskbar, you can quickly switch between apps by simply tapping on the app icon, drag and drop an app to launch it in split-screen mode, hide it from view via touch and hold the taskbar. The taskbar and the app dock is the same if you noticed it, also the taskbar will appeared back once users exits an app. Currently up to 5 apps can be added, probably it likely to change in the future though. Android 12.1 gets new split screen and recent apps UI
So Android 12.1 split screen divider line is now more prominent, also it dark gray instead of being black. There is also App Pairs, but it is not currently possible to add one to the home screen yet. By the way, one cool feature though, double tap the split screen divider to swap the positions of the app that you opened.

The recent apps overview has a subtle tweak here in Android 12.1. The most recent card still remain the same, while rest of the cards are now smaller in size and arrange in a 2 row grid. There also a "split" button below the most recent card. (XDA-Developers)

There are some other features that are mentioned in code changes but not working as XDA mentioned. You can dag and drop a heads-up notification, also open apps in a freeform window instead of split-screen.

Fun fact: Code submission for this feature was submitted by a Samsung engineer. (XDA-Developers)

Dynamic Colors support by default in all Android 12.1 build, also new boot animation
Earlier XDA has reported that the Dynamic Color support will be coming to Android 12.1 AOSP build, which mean every OEM get access to it. Check out our earlier post about it to learn more.

Also XDA recently just discovered that Google plans to expand the dynamic color theming to Android boot animation too. I can see Google is attentive here now. Here his how the dynamic color boot animation works:
"The new dynamic coloring render mode treats the R, G, B, and A channels of each image as area masks, interpolating between the start and end colors based on the progression of the animation."

Currently there no working demo, but in my opinion this will be cool. (XDA-Developers)

Pixel 6 latest leaks reveal color names, also European pricing
Almost everything about Pixel 6 is leaked before being announced, this is being a Pixel tradition anyway, lol. Specifications of the phone are easily leaked if someone has the prototype device, but one factor that is hard to know about is the price.

M. Brandon Lee of This is Tech Today shared some info of the pricing in his YouTube video, suggesting that Pixel 6 starts €649 and Pixel 6 Pro starts at €899. For comparison, Pixel 5 launching price is €629, so €20 more for the Pixel 6, and it a great price for a flagship. Prices may subject to change before launch so take this info with a grain of salt.

For the colors, we knows that Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro share 5 colors, red, green, black, silver, and gold. For the Pixel 6 black & green variant, it is being referred in the carrier system as “carbon” and “fog,” (9To5Google)

Chrome for Android Chrome gain permanent Desktop site switch, now working
So Chrome on Android is gaining a neat feature,a permanent switch for Desktop site view. Actually the option has been appearing for quite a while in the popup menu, but not working properly (not permanently enabled) till a recent Canary build released.

Spotted by someone on Reddit,
enable chrome://flags/#request-desktop-site-global and restart it, then the feature will work now. You will also find a new Desktop site option in Site settings. Currently it is still in development, but a Chromium Gerrit entry shows that you will be able to choose which site to blacklist from using it. (Android Police)
