Google Maps introduce more features, helping to reduce carbon emission and improve bike ride navigation
Google today just announced some new features for Google Maps "to navigate more sustainably."

First is eco-friendly routing, currently rolling out throughout the U.S. and will expand to Europe next year. Google stated that eco-friendly route "usually have fewer hills, less traffic & constant speeds". Google will default it to the most fuel efficient route if it has roughly the same ETA as the fastest route.

Next is lite navigation which will be optimised for bike ride. The cyclists can track their trip progress, check for ETA update in real-time, and also know the elevation of the route.

Lastly, bike and scooter share options. It will be rolling out to 300 cities around the world, including Berlin, New York, São Paulo and Taipei in the next few months. (Google Blog)

Find/Plan your flights and help reduce carbon emission
Google Flights just got carbon emission tool which can estimate each flight carbon emission.

These emissions estimates are not just based on distance travelled, it also check for the plane classification, age, and even the seat you choose. Green badge is given for flight with significantly lower emissions. You can also sort results to check which flight is the most greenest.

Not just flights, when searching for hotels you will also be able to check if they have gained any eco-certifications from Green Key or EarthCheck. Checking out the "About" tab for the specific hotel shows info like waste reduction efforts and sustainably sourced materials to energy efficiency and water conservation measures. More info click here.

All these data are possible to be deliver to users because Google just joined the Travalyst coalition, which they hope to provide the travel industry a more accurate calculate carbon impact of our global air travel. (Google Blog)

YouTube will soon show which part of the video that viewer finds it to be the epic moment
A small amount of users on YouTube will get to see an engagement graph above the video progress bar, highlighting epics moments of a video.

The experiment is spotted on the YouTube support community page. While scrubbing the progress bar, you will see a graph which shows how the viewers are interacting with the video. If the graph is high, it means that part of the video has been frequently re-watched, and vice versa.

The feature is only available to a few amount of users for now. Once it rollout more widely, will update with you guys on how it works in action. (Android Police)

Live Transcribe soon can transcribe speech without Internet, also gains Material You redesign for Android 12
Live Transcribe is an app that is made for people with hearing impaired. This app can transcribe speech in real-time, but one caveat is that it still require an Internet connection to work. Things might finally change, Google is bringing offline support for the feature.

Teardown of the app on version 4.6 suggests that Google will be adding offline trannoscription support. The strings reveal that users will be able to download multiple language packs. After downloading it, users now can use it even when your device is offline.

The feature isn't rolling out yet, could be a server side update that will trigger it. Also, since Live Transcribe is part of Google, Material You redesign with dynamic colors support is there. Sadly, only available on Android 12 for now, hope to see it rolling out to older Android version in a future update. (XDA Developers)

New leak of Pixel 6 surfaced, hinting price and release date, also there face unlock
Just yesterday, Google just announced Pixel 6 launch event will be taking place on October 19. So someone in Germany spotted a Pixel 6 ad and posted it to Reddit.

The German carrier is nice enough to prepare Bose 700 headphone as a gift for people whoever pre-order it. Anyway, back to Pixel 6, we can see the big number "649" is written, which is €649 (~$750) for the price. Also we can notice that on the top it written the period of the pre-order date which will be from October 19 to October 27. Nice job Jon Prosser.

By the way, Mishaal Rahman spotted that in the ad, it mentioned facial recognition wording in the specs listing. This marked it as the second Pixel series to have the feature since Google removed it from older Pixel devices after announcing the Pixel 4.

New Now Playing update starting to roll out, but only cloud search feature for now
Previously an APK teardown let us know that Now Playing is getting some decent update, and the new update is starting to roll out.

When entering the Now Playing settings page, there an additional option which you can enable or disable to show search button on the lock screen. What this do is that it will send the audio to Google and analyse to identify what song is that, it will only be activated when you press on the search button.

The cloud search feature should took around less than 5 seconds to identify the song depending on your background noise, volume, network speed. So far it is rolling out to only a few users via server side, other update like the favourite feature is not here yet, also it could be an Android 12 only feature, anyway time will tell. (9To5Google)
