When you see this corrugated roof, it's safe to assume that it is part of the new Ukrainian defensive line. Just some little tips :)

At the end of June 2025, #Russia 🇷🇺 is attempting to unify the Komar and Novopavlivka directions, but #Ukraine 🇺🇦 built a formidable defensive line to prevent this. Very soon, it will finally see utility.

🔄 Anti-tank ditches, dragon's teeth and barbed wire updated on the online control map.
For trenches patience will be needed, as as I said there are tens of thousands of them.

Updated fortification layer added to the online map!

Becuase of the fact that GoogleMyMaps sucks, I had to choose to upload more of the Ukrainian side (defending) than the Russian side (attacking). That is why you won't see much of the Surovikin Lines.
Soon, I will also add the control map part, starting from the most active directions, like Komar, Pokrovsk and Toretsk.
Have fun copiers of fortifications with stealing my layers! If I don't catch you, know that I hate you :)

ZSU Battalion in Defense - a model/textbook example.
Some time ago, an interesting post appeared on one of the niche Ukrainian channels, describing how Ukrainian battalions in 2024 organized the defense of their area of responsibility. Although the author claims that the situation has changed and the organization of defense for Ukrainian line battalions currently looks different, based on my own observations, it seems to me that these are minor, cosmetic changes. Below is a translation of most of the post along with the diagram created by its author. For some time now, many people have been asking how it is possible that Russian assault groups of 2-3 units, each consisting of 5 soldiers, manage to break through Ukrainian defenses. This is possible because, on the Ukrainian side, the forward defensive line is manned by only slightly more soldiers. The denoscription below helps to understand this.
"Input data: a line mechanized battalion capable of deploying 40-50 infantrymen, 4 Kirpi or other MRAPs, 2 x 120 mm mortars, 2 M2 Browning, 2 MK-19, 2 x 82 mm mortars, 2 Mavic teams for reconnaissance, 1 team for bomber drones, 1 FPV team.
Platoon or even squad-level strongpoints are gradually becoming a thing of the past, and infantry is concentrated on likely enemy attack directions in OPs (observation posts) with 2-4 soldiers (ideally with visual and fire contact with at least one neighboring OP), whose main task is LISTENING, observing, and reporting, and, if necessary, engaging with small arms fire;
- multi-layered defense is most often achieved not by having a fully-fledged second echelon but by positioning support fire companies (separate platoons) deep within the position, resulting in some cases where the range of such weapons allows targeting only the forward edge of the defensive line. Alternatively, to destroy the enemy in case of a breakthrough deep into the defense, a certain “general reserve” (located near the headquarters) is separately allocated, which, on command, moves out and blocks further enemy advance in case they break through the battalion’s first defensive line;
- the main reconnaissance area extends up to 2.2 kilometers in front of the forward defensive line and flanks, depending on the number of available resources.
- upon detection by Mavic or based on reports from observation posts, the enemy comes under fire from UAVs (drones, FPV) and mortar battery barrages as they advance;
- an enemy approaching the forward edge of the defense, in addition to the above measures, is further engaged with small arms fire and grenades from OPs, small arms fire from neighboring OPs, and fire from heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers located deep within the defense;
- if the enemy manages to penetrate the depth of the first defensive echelon and occupies one or more observation posts, further advance is prevented by inflicting losses with all available firepower on the lost positions and potential further routes of advance, while the available battalion commander’s reserve moves out and establishes a new position (OP).
- If the enemy uses armored vehicles to bypass forward positions and accelerate the landing of troops behind the first defensive echelon to disrupt our forces’ battle formation, the enemy is targeted by FPV, ATGM positioned deep in the defense (3 km) in case of penetration, UAV drops directly during the landing, then blocked in the landing area with fire from all available firepower (again, particular attention to mortars and machine guns), and subsequently, under favorable conditions, cleared by the reserve subunit;
