So that's a tacit admission that NATO troops are now fighting in Ukraine?
Some people want it both ways. They are anomymous mercs until they get captured and then they are NATO POWs, or so we are lead to believe. Really?

If there was a declared war involving NATO and Russia, those two would now be POWs and covered by the rules of the Geneva Convention concerning treatment of POWs.
But they are not - they are mercenaries and therefore have no standing. They could just be taken out and shot. But they will not be. They are more important as pawns in the PR and information war.

If NATO has soldiers in Ukraine, then have them don NATO uniforms or the uniforms of their country's as that would be an implicit declaration of war against Russia and everyone could understand who the adversaries are. Then the gloves could come off instead of this obscene stealth, proxy-war which is the West's favorite mode of 'warfare' where Western leaders supplies weapons and proxy-fighters in order to bloody their targets without becoming hot-targets themselves.
Really. I've a better way to do this. One and one combat to the death between "leaders." Leaders can pick champions if they wish, but if their champion dies - so do they. It would change the face of war. 👍
