Second round of the 2025 presidential elections in Poland has just concluded and vote counting is ongoing. Not far from earlier predictions, it appears that the government candidate and current mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski 🟡❕, is leading.

Elections saw a high turnout, similar to that of Romania 🇷🇴 where the liberal mayor of the capital won despite being rather passive during the campaign period. The key difference is that Karol Nawrocki is entirely new to politics and never enjoyed higher poll support than Trzaskowski. In fact, the right-wing candidate outperformed expectations, with some speculating that he could have had lost to a far-right candidate with greater political experience in 1st round.

During second round of presidential campaign attention was placed at smearing Karol Nawrocki as a crook. With supposed obstructed past in criminal underworld. He was accused of taking part in battles between football fanclubs and being a middleman of other shady dealings.
