Dokładnie 231 lat temu - to jest trzeciego maja 1791 roku - została uchwalona pierwsza w Europie, a druga na świecie konstytucja. Ustawa Rządowa miała między innymi zmienić ustrój państwa na monarchię dziedziczną, ograniczyć znacząco demokrację szlachecką, znieść liberum veto. Państwo zobowiązało się wziąć chłopów pod ochronę, łagodząc nadużycia pańszczyzny, a także częściowo zrównać w prawach mieszczaństwo i gołotę. Uchwalenie konstytucji wzbudziło wrogość imperium rosyjskiego🇷🇺 - doprowadziło to do kolejnych wojen, ostatecznie rozbiorów Polski🇵🇱🔚.
Po utracie niepodległości Konstytucja stała się symbolem walki o niepodległość⚔️. Konstytucja była "ostatnią wolą i testamentem przemijającej ojczyzny"

Exactly 231 years ago on May 3rd 1791, the first modern constitution in Europe was signed and the second in the entire world after that one of USA(🇺🇸). The Constitution changed the state system into a hereditary monarchy, limited the noble freedoms and waived the liberum veto. The state was obliged to take the peasants under its protection by reducing the practice of the serfdom and to give the poorest nobles and townsfolk the same rights.
After the Constitution was signed, it made the Russian Empire(🇷🇺) antipathic. It led both nations into the Russo-Polish war(🇷🇺⚔️🇵🇱), and later to the second and third partitions of country 🔚. After losing independence, the 🇵🇱 Constitution became a symbol of Poland's struggle to regain its liberty and culmination of the Enlightenment in Poland(🇵🇱). It was "the last will and testament of the expiring Homeland." Today May 3rd is the most important civic Polish holiday 🇵🇱
