We want to share with you several 4-year fully funded PhD (3x) and Postdoc (2x) positions at Eindhoven University of Technology.
First, we offer 4-year PhD and Postdoc positions that involve transdisciplinary research in real-life context on Energy Communities (ECs) engaging in integral energy management, and who therefore go beyond generation of renewable energy. This research project aims to empower existing Energy Communities by exploring scale through organisation into Energy Community hubs, enhancing ECs capabilities, addressing technical deficiencies, scaling business models, and tackling regulatory barriers.
Secondly, we offer a 4-year Postdoc position on organising local integrations of renewable electricity generation with (collective) heating solutions in Local Energy Communities. The research focuses on social-organizational challenges and solutions, involving citizen engagement, community building, local governance models, and exploring local needs, challenges, and opportunities in diverse community contexts.
Next, we are offering a PhD position on the role of technical universities, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in particular, as change agents for sustainability transitions. The specific tasks of the PhD candidate include: i) research into new roles technical universities can assume in view of sustainability challenges; ii) research into how universities can mobilize their staff and student community around sustainability transitions, and iii) research into participatory ways sustainability can be assessed and integrated in the ongoing TU/e research, education, operations and/or governance activities.
Finally, we offer a 4-year PhD position that involves conducting research on local energy transitions, with a specific focus on changes that transcend system boundaries. Local energy transitions refer to local socio-technological configurations, often developed by energy communities and/or municipalities, that involve innovations such as distributed renewable energy generation, smart grid systems, local energy trading, sustainable heating solutions, and shared electric mobility.
