****PhD Scholarship Available****
We are recruiting a PhD researcher as part of a recently funded Australian Research Council Linkage project at UNSW working with the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and the NSW State Emergency Service on “Connecting changing sub-daily precipitation extremes to flash floods”. The PhD project will investigate how high spatial and temporal resolution information on extreme rainfalls from radar and regional downscaling models can be used to better understand historical and future flood risk. The PhD position will be based in the Water Research Centre in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and collaborating with researchers and practitioners in the UNSW Climate Change Research Centre and the NSW Bushfire and Natural Hazards Research Centre.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in flood modelling (e.g Tuflow, MIKE software) and good knowledge of current flood design and floodplain planning in Australia. Experience in programming (Python, R or Matlab) and managing and analysing large data sets is highly desirable.
All interested applicants should email Associate Professor Fiona Johnson (f.johnson@unsw.edu.au) with a short denoscription of their background, research experience and interest relevant to the project, along with academic trannoscripts, CV, English Language proficiency certificates, and links to any published papers.

We want to share with you several 4-year fully funded PhD (3x) and Postdoc (2x) positions at Eindhoven University of Technology.
First, we offer 4-year PhD and Postdoc positions that involve transdisciplinary research in real-life context on Energy Communities (ECs) engaging in integral energy management, and who therefore go beyond generation of renewable energy. This research project aims to empower existing Energy Communities by exploring scale through organisation into Energy Community hubs, enhancing ECs capabilities, addressing technical deficiencies, scaling business models, and tackling regulatory barriers.
Secondly, we offer a 4-year Postdoc position on organising local integrations of renewable electricity generation with (collective) heating solutions in Local Energy Communities. The research focuses on social-organizational challenges and solutions, involving citizen engagement, community building, local governance models, and exploring local needs, challenges, and opportunities in diverse community contexts.
Next, we are offering a PhD position on the role of technical universities, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in particular, as change agents for sustainability transitions. The specific tasks of the PhD candidate include: i) research into new roles technical universities can assume in view of sustainability challenges; ii) research into how universities can mobilize their staff and student community around sustainability transitions, and iii) research into participatory ways sustainability can be assessed and integrated in the ongoing TU/e research, education, operations and/or governance activities.
Finally, we offer a 4-year PhD position that involves conducting research on local energy transitions, with a specific focus on changes that transcend system boundaries. Local energy transitions refer to local socio-technological configurations, often developed by energy communities and/or municipalities, that involve innovations such as distributed renewable energy generation, smart grid systems, local energy trading, sustainable heating solutions, and shared electric mobility.

Dear all,
My lab at New Mexico Tech is recruiting a 3-year postdoctoral researcher to work on a project in collaboration with Dr. Dalei Hao at the DOE Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Start date is flexible, early 2025 is preferred.
Objective of the project is to improve large-scale snow simulations in Earth System Models by i) investigating the spatial variability of snow cover over mountains / complex terrain regions, ii) investigating how snow grain shape and albedo change with snow aging, and iii) studying the space-time variability of snow droughts.
The candidate should be interested in the physical processes related to hydrology, cryosphere, and climate science. A strong quantitative background in numerical methods, statistics, and programming is desired. Previous experience working with Earth System Models is highly welcome.
Interested candidates should contact me (enrico.zorzetto@nmt.edu) to arrange a virtual interview and learn more about the research project. In your email, please include i) your CV, ii) a cover letter describing your previous research experience, relevant skills and research interests, and iii) a list of publications and software or data products.
